Being about 1 game away from first place, I was matched against an opponent who I knew would actually not give me enough points if I were to win. I only needed around 30 points too. So this was an unfortunate matchup.
No way in the real world would I risk 150 points for a potential gain of 15 points. That's an entire order of magnitude difference and is absurd.
Rest assured, the opponent went first, purchase a Crow card and I'll spare you the rest of the details about the game. I basically came nowhere close to being able to do anything and was thrashed. I have beat this particular player several times today, but with how chance works, this loss is bound to happen.
And I will point out a helpful tip for some of you. I've actually wrote this before in another post. Scumming with Crow does MUCH better against me than Sorcerer-King or Mora. It's a very linear strategy, easy to play, and can easily carry you with a good enough turn one. Anyhow...
So I played a few more games. Again, against players that are only giving me around 25 points. And that's when something interesting happens.
I get matched up against another player who I regularly get only a few points from, but this time is different. This time, I don't even see the game start.
They message me asking what happend...
I never got to play the game and lost 150 more points for my trouble. At 25 points a game and 10 minutes per game, that's about an hour of progress lost.
They sent their condolences, and I thanked them, but it's not their fault.
It's not my fault.
And I know of one extremly good player who decided to stop playing TOT for a few reasons, but one big one was, you guessed it, the bug of getting kicked out of games.
So that does it.
The feedback has been given.

This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and diminished by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel cool.
