Graphics Card running hot

Past couple of days my graphics card has been running hot but the previous day it was just fine. I`m on a Raider X299, I7 9800X CPU, RTX 2060 Graphics card, 32 Gb of ram and SSD drives. I have tried different drivers but cannot get those temps down, I even bought a new PC Case from newegg.

    there aught to be a means to adjust the fan curve with that nvidia software. Have you checked that all your fans are spinning. I bought a 1650 and have replaced the fans 2x so far because the dust from the place gums them up and pulling the fan blades off is tricky... a little alcohol on a qtip to clean the gummed up dusty part on the underside of the fan blades to keep them spinning helps a lot to maintain them. Your 2060 is likely long in the tooth and has seen many years of spinning. Good news is you can likely get replacements off of ebay in a week or two if you genuinely need them. If you pop the case off and can see the fan blades are spinning try and stall them out by pressing the middle of the blade with your finger and release it again and see how quickly each fan spins back up. if there's any delay, you likely need some tlc there. also depending on the age of your 2060 you might need a repaste the gpu for maximum thermal efficacy. some screws and a power connector for the fans and some alcohol on a cotton ball and a dap of new thermal paste should be easy to finish it up in less than 30 minutes no problem - 10 if you're experienced.

    One of the fans were not spinning so I have MSI Afterburner and I forced the fans to run 100%. I had to give the one fan a nudge to get it going then I let it run at 100% for about 15 mins, so far it looks like it will stay running. I will have to check fans everytime when I start the OS to see if it is running before I will trust it. I might have caused the fan to stop running when I re-installed it but I don`t know, at least it is running. Thanks.

    If you can pull the fan blade off without breaking any of the blades you can clean the gunk off the underside of the blades. Don’t grab the blades and pull up as that will lead to broken blades. They do just snap in and out though if you have the skills. Cleaning the junk under that spindle it snaps into will add to the life of your card but only if you are skilled enough to remove it without breaking it. The fans and the shroud are easily removed with some tiny Phillips head screws and a tiny plug on the card.

    On my 1650 it’s 3 screws around each fan and you have to turn the fans to get clear access to the screws

    Likely replacement fans are about 15$ for a set. Buy the set and replace them both even if you only need one because if you replace only one there could be a polarity issue where either one of the fans spins while the other does not even though if you hook them up to a 9 volt battery both would spin independently of the other. The sell them in pairs for a reason. Yah sure you can buy one and save a few bucks but then you might have to cut the wires and shrink wrap them to get the correct polarity so they both spin at the same time. You don’t want ugly electrical tape on you fan wires.

    I just started my day and remembered to check the fan found that it was not turning. I gave it alittle nudge and it started but it is making a noise so I will take it apart and see what the problem is. Thanks.

    Sounds like a bearing may have gone.

    ESO mostly being a CPU bound game so shouldn't be working your GPU too hard.

    This guy does a pretty good job cleaning and recasting but he doesn’t clean dust where it accumulates next to the central spindle on the underside of the fan blades. You can see the copper windings on the motor but they have a counterpart on the underside of the fan blade hubs next to the central axle or spindle that can get gummed up with dust and impede the blades turning.

    Just a quip and some alcohol and a few runs around it to get at that hidden dust makes a diff
