World bosses?

Hello

I post here mostly to ask your mind about it... I see sometime in the chat zone people looking for members to fight a "world boss", aka zone bosses (how I call them, the zones with a skull as icon...)

Why "World boss"? They just have a bit more of HP than regular mobs, still less than Dungeon bosses, a group of 3 people is enough to kill one and they aren't huge, they don't give huge loots, we can find them in any levels and they aren't ugly creatures (the later is optional though).

So why do I see people calling them world bosses? Is it really the real term for them? Am I the only one who is bothered by that?

Thank you for your answers!

They/we got used to that term from other MMOs. I think it simply means "a boss outside in the world and not in some random dungeon and it can be accessed or killer by anyone".

Although, in MMOs, world bosses aren't supposed to be bosses that you need to have a raid to have a slight chance to kill them?

I mean... The boss zones mostly remind me, for instance, the "rare" mobs from WoW (despite they aren't rare anymore now...) some harder mobs with some more start and higher HP. Not like a world boss which has more or less the same stats of a raid. That's why I feel annoyed when people call those small bosses "world bosses".

Maybe it was once like that, for many of us, a world boss is something you need at least a party to kill. If I want to refer a raid boss in the world, I write its name and add "raid boss".
