And I’ll add that the possibility, even a small one, an event extension (just like this time!) makes this way of doing things even worse. I myself have bought more confetti pieces than I needed to now, so I’ve wasted tickets that could have been spent on extra cake slices.

The achievement keeps track of how many you've used, why not just use the Confetti Packs as you get them?

I just kept them in the inventory of my main character until I had enough to use. They stack.

On one official thread I recall it was said it will get extended because of problems but the counter in game (and the event article) have not been updated. So does the event end 23rd or 25th ?? o.O

Maybe the counter will be fixed during the maintenence then..

it's a bad design imo. give us the achievement after we acquire fewer of these packs than is given in the length of the event. this buying of packs with tickets to get the achievement and having to plan out the number we need to buy is silly.

or give us the ability to drop packs outside of the gold drop that we get once a day

I've just been putting the confetti things in the bank. The item description says you need 25 and they stack, so it gives me an easy way to keep track of it - once there's 25 in the stack I know I've got enough. You need to keep them together, but that's just basic inventory management.

I do agree it's annoying that some come from the daily boxes and others have to be bought with tickets though. Especially because you'll need to spend at least 15 tickets and can only hold 12 so you can't even wait until the end to see what you need to buy.

Between days I've missed due to real life, days I might miss due to maintenance and server problems, the event possibly being extended, but maybe only on some servers(?) I'm not sure where I'm up to, I think I've wasted tickets I didn't need to spend and therefore missed out on something else, but I've got no way to know for sure until the event ends.

The maths for working out how many to buy is simple once all the variables are known, but the problem is you need to know that in advance in order to plan things and that's often not possible. For a simple example: I bought 1 extra because I knew I'd miss a day, then the event got extended due to PTS problems no one could have seen coming, so I didn't need to do that and could have spent the tickets on something else. But I couldn't wait until the end when all the variables are known because then I wouldn't have enough tickets.

It would really help if the information on the extension wasn't buried somewhere in one of numerous threads about the PTS problems and locked accounts. I understand that because ZOS very rarely extend events even when there's server problems they've never needed a way to update the in-game notifications before. But it would help if there was something on the news page or a mail sent to all accounts on the servers which are getting an extension, or something like that which is easy for everyone to find letting us know what the new end date is so we can plan accordingly.

I mean, it's pretty basic math. 25 - (Number of poppers you have + number of days left in the event) = how many you are short. If ZOS can't assume their players can do this level of math.... I fear for the future of society.

Why do you need to make notes as there's an achievement that counts the confettis for you ?

But yea it's a [snip] nevertheless as at last day you might notice you can't get enough confettis with event tickets and therefore you need to buy the missing tickets from the shop if you really want to have the mount. Something like anniversary mount should be easily obtained (basically just login during the event) and not make it a cash trap.

Update: I was right. If the event had run as planned I'd have gotten it exactly right - I bought 1 extra confetti because I was going to miss 1 day and got the last one from a box on what should have been the last day of the event. Because of the unplanned extension I didn't need to do that and could have used the tickets for something else, but I had no way to know that in order to plan ahead.

I don't see how anyone could have known that would happen, since even ZOS didn't know (if they'd been able to predict the PTS problems they'd have prevented them and then the event wouldn't have been extended).

There's all kinds of other things which could have happened but then didn't, which also couldn't have been predicted. I could have left it to the last day to get my last confetti, as intended, and then maintenance could have been extended until I had to go to bed to be up for work in the morning. Or my internet could have gone down. I could have had some type of family crisis which required me to be away from home and my PC. All things which have happened before.

Or if I'd had slightly more free time I'd have logged into the PTS and gotten locked out of my account.

I know the maths is simple once all the variables are known, but there's no way to know until the end of the event, when it's too late to buy all the confetti you don't get from daily boxes.
