Will future logins to PTS still risk possible ban and account locking for days?

unpresidented as this was, im simply not going to risk my account, the only possible way i would think about it would be if the PTS was a completly seperate environment, but ultimately i think was the final nail in the coffin for the PTS

To be fair, a catastrophic mess like this one should be unlikely to repeat itself. Also to be fair, it's understandable people are afraid to go anywhere near the PTS. What's probably going to happen is for a while many won't touch it, but as time passes and, hopefully, nothing bad happens, some will go back there. I never used it and, to me, there's little cost in playing it safe and continuing not to use it. For others, the advantages of using the PTS may make it worth the risk.

I've still got PTS installed and logged into an alt account to go play around in West Weald for a bit. First item of note, this is an account that I hardly ever play. If something goes sideways, I'm out the cost of a collection (purchased in Blackwood era, I think). No big loss if the absolute worst comes to pass. Honestly, though, I'd have logged in with my regular account if it weren't locked out while ZOS works its magic on the banned accounts. If something goes sideways on PTS, then it should hypothetically be contained within PTS. If PTS is back up, then ZOS is apparently satisfied that there will be no repeat of the previous problem (or "issue" as @ZOS_Kevin likes to call them). YOLO!
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I think it's unlikley for this specific scenario to repeat itself. This was a collosal *** that I hope they will introduce steps to prevent. If I wasn't currently still banned because of it I would go back onto the pts.
If you are scared, you can always wait a day until after the patch, something like this should get caught very quickly

At this point, it has probably never been safer to go on the PTS. What happened was a massive blunder. It should never have happened. I am sure there will be guardrails in place now to ensure it never happens again. It is not logical to be scared.

This isn't really about the PTS, it's about the team running the system.
In my long experience working in IT it is a rare achievement indeed to get a test system to overwrite the live data on a live server with test system data.
A team with that level of expertise is capable of just about anything.
My advice is to set your expectations accordingly, and just carry on playing.

I don't care about PTS anymore. I uninstalled it and will never touch it again. At least I got over 100GB space disk back.

I don't trust using PTS at all anymore. Didn't think this could happen. I have an alt account I rarely use I could use but I don't even wanna risk that either. As is I'm one of the ones affected currently and I dont' wanna risk my alt account.

The PTS will be deserted. It was always a community effort that the community did, now that same community is rewarded with a ban and turmoil amid the game's anniversary event. Let ZOZ test their own game alone.

Lmao there were 5 groups THAT I KNOW PERSONALLY running the new trial on PTS last night. It's hardly "deserted"

Don't worry. The next time you will try to log in to the PTS something like this won't happen again. Instead you will only get a 60sec countdown, after which the univers will explode  !

On a more serious note. Like some here already mentioned. What happend was an extrem mess, which only happens once for a company like ZOS. Something similar might happen, IF there are unusual circumstances and or a series of unfortunate events. BUT, not the same thing.

What I would recommend is. When you see that the PTS gets an update, wait 2 days before you log in to it. That way you will see if anything strange is going on with the new update or not. If you see nothing mentioned in the forum or on reddit, then you can assume that a save login should be possible ;) .

Just wait for things to go live and you won't have to worry about it. ZOS is capable of doing their own beta testing, or at least they should be.

i personally don't plan to uninstall pts and will be jumping there probably soon, although this week is more for content creators to jump in and "praise" how overpowered are the new "shinies", before they are nerfed.

this year there has been stable count 1to1 of releases on live servers with mess, so pts is not exception, but more of a confirmation of the rule
