Merge treasure maps with Scrying?

Had a stockpile of maps i never touched and finally decided to burn through them. Only to be hit with the revelation that they are kinda... Useless, since they just function like normal chests.

So why not have them incorporated with scrying instead? They largely function the same way as scrying areas on the map by pointing you to a certain location.

Basically maps in it's current form is a deprecated system that's borderline vendor trash.

Chests from maps do contain leads (sometimes).
But too often, they just contain pure junk, even more so the "release maps" you got as extras from purchasing a chapter.

Sure, make treasure maps too locked behind a paywall! All I see behind this "idea", is that whoever has no access to Greymoor should be locked out of using treasure maps so you could get leads easier because fewer are competing with you.

Interesting take. I wouldn't wonder if you were right actually.

Junk to some players but not others. newer players can actually use some items, crafters need items to break down and, unbelievable I know, but some of them don't want to pay gold for items just to break them down.

It's always funny when someone fulfills what they needed on a character of theirs, no longer wants the stuff and then tells everyone that its all just garbage and should be removed from the game.

I'm assuming what OP means is make treasure maps work like leads. Instead of taking up a spot in your inventory, they have their own page in the journal, like leads do.

As wolfie1.0. already wrote. A far better solution would be to make them simply *STACKABLE* . Nothing else needs to be done. Maybe except an improvement on how you can get Treasure-Maps, especially for certain Zones.

I didn't really come with any solution other than to group two systems together, some way.

I haven't even fulfilled what i needed. I just made the observation that I'm probably better off tossing these maps and just straight up hunt normal chests than to actually do them. The reward is the same (except for the CE maps where the reward is actually worse).

Their only actual value now is that it loads up a drawing.

Yes, they are of marginal benefit over normal chests, but they are exclusively yours, and don’t need to be picked. Another category of chest opened the way to a different loot pool, too. That is why the antiquity leads are only in that one class of chest. Without the map system, they might have put the leads behind Master locks instead.

It's subjective really. But allowing them to stack and be deposited in guild banks would address many of people's issues with them. It would also make duplicates easier to dispose of if you don't want em.

Yeah stacking would def make them a tad less frustrating, though they would still take up storage space.

But think of the fun you could have to finish a scry for it then to load up a projection of the location to dig! Rather than getting it's outline on the map. (Honestly both being sarcastic and serious here).

As long both Survey maps and Treasure maps aren't bound to character or account, then being able to stock those aren't really an issue.

If would be possible to stock those items then players would suddenly not sell/trade those maps which can be useful even for new player that have less material and need what they can get out of Survey and Treasure maps.

For my own part I love those maps, so I will say no to OP suggestion! Keep it like it is now and start use those maps or sell/give away if it is that much of problem for your storage.

There is also good addon that will show location for those, so you don't need a device or even keys to open those chests which is the main part of Treasure chests vs other chests in game.

I would check the sale value, but some maps can be sold for a Lot of gold. Generally when I run into one that might pay 25k or more, I put it up for sale. Every one of the maps I have put up over the years has sold.
