Accessibility Feedback: NPC Subtitles Should Appear in Chatbox

Is there any way that we could have the subtitles for NPCs also appear in the chatbox?

I frequently miss NPC commentary because the subtitle appears in the center of the screen and fades away sometimes before I get a chance to fully read it. I'd love for an option to have the text also appear in the chatbox so I could go back and read what was said.

There is a checkbox for that that's off by default.

Right click on the chat tab, go to 'options,' and then you can turn it on.

Not sure if subtitled dialogues or monologues already are coded, so it will be shown when you enable NPC in Option for tab in Chat. Have you tried that?

For ambient NPC you could also enable "/say" and "/yell" as option.

I have set up Chat Option and used one tab for only having NPC conversation in one place.

Subtitle, as you say, have too short duration on screen for me to read and when one also scale up UI like I do, then that text will be too large to read across my screen in one blink before it will be gone (and often will also LUI Extender UI block some part of text).

There is also add on which can help here to change tab when NPC speak (FCO ChatTabbrain and pChat among other add on which can store chat messages in case you need to use /reloadui or change instance/go through a door etc).

I can confirm this works. I use both and it picks up all the same text.

I recommend setting up a dedicated chat tab for NPC dialogue, so it's easier to find and read through. I always seem to get someone posting a very long guild advert in the middle of an NPCs dialogue, so having a seperate tab set up and ready to switch to is useful.

Have you tried using Azurah? It allows you to move and resize the default UI, including subtitles. You can't change the shape of the subtitle box annoyingly, but you could make the text smaller and put it somewhere it won't get blocked.

    Thank you, Danikat!

I did install Azurah and it did work to change where subtitle will be displayed.

I can also confirm that when NPC speak that all subtitle conversation will also be in chat, if one make use of a dedicated NPC tab (right click on correct tab to change its option, untick everything else except for NPC and say as that also will add ambient NPC conversation, if needed).

LUI Extended and this addon did work without major issues. I had an error show up when using Guild Panel application to one Guild and as long it happens when one apply to a guild then it doesn't matter too much.

Interesting that this is a problem on PC. I cannot turn off the npc chatter in my text box.

Have you checked that Chat (right click) what you have ticket for "NPC"?

Untick it and untick /say as that will show close range NPC conversation.

I suppose that you are on PC. Don't know how it works for console.

As a small shameless plug for those on PC potentially wanting more accessibility or having issues reading the chat (or fear of missing something), which essentially adds to this:

My addon, ESO Toolbox, has an option to show both group chat and say/yell as subtitles in the middle of the screen.
