ESO now on GeForce Now

Got a surprise when I opened up GeForce Now to play a game. ESO showed up in my games list. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I am using GeForce Now to stream Next Gen games that my PC won't play otherwise and I am subscribing to it so I don't have to wait in 2 or more hour queues to get a play session that only lasts an hour. Problems I see concerning ESO being there are patches. Some games on GeForce Now take several days to patch. I am not sure why that is and GeForce Now won't explain it. With ESO getting weekly updates sometimes if it is like that it could be a major hassle. The plus side for me is I can play on Max settings with no issues. Another downside to it is you must own ESO on another platform like Steam and a lot of gamers are against that kind of service. I personally have had no issues with Steam. I had to get it when Skyrim came out as back then it was the only way to play it. At any rate it is what it is. I will use it unless it becomes a major problem as it will allow me to free up hard drive space. This post is meant for informational purposes. Feel free to continue discussing it. I have shared my thoughts based on my experience with GFN.

I wanted it for mobile like it was with Stadia.

GeForce Now can be played on any machine that supports an internet browser. No download required. You are just playing through your browser. I played BG3 on my iPhone through Safari. It said I needed a controller to play but I bypassed that warning and was able to play a little using touch screen. I can't use a controller anyways because they make my hands go numb. Being that the iPhone screen was so small I decided not to use it for that purpose and it drained the battery charge really quick.

I am also finding some critical problems that ZOS needs to address with GFN. Number one is the BETA Launcher. It won't install. Number 2 is the PTS. It runs into a problem of inactivity when trying to install and crashes the installation. To me what it looks like we have here is a free offer to play ESO on GFN up to April 9th. After that I can only assume a player must sub to GFN in order to continue. I am already subbed as I play several other Next Gen games on it. Not sure I am going to continue on it with ESO. I want to see how many days it takes GFN to put the next patch in before I make a decision on it. It took them 6 days on the last Starfield patch.

I, for one, was pleasantly surprised to see ESO in NVIDIA GeForce NOW after years of waiting. I wasn't able to enjoy the game after I switched my household to Apple because support for Mac was terrible.

Came back yesterday after ~2 years and I see it there, so I immediately logged in, got ESO+ for a month to test.

I only see one issue - add-ons. If there ever will be a way to get this to work, it would be huge. Right now it's a hassle to swap everything manually concerning builds. One way to achieve this would be by adding official, verified add-ons to Steam to download from there and install with the game like many other games do. Another would be to implement most common sense features like build swapping. I see they actually added the builds, but as a paid feature 🤣 so after years of having that for free, now I have to pay for it.

Overall, I'm happy it's finally in NVIDIA GeForce NOW and that my game runs on maximum details on constant 100 FPS, which was always an issue for me when I had it installed on Windows. Never owned a powerful enough machine to enjoy it.

Using NVIDIA GeForce NOW is far superior for a number of factors, since the game doesn't run locally. No need to list them, just think of the most common issues like overheating etc. that you won't suffer from anymore. And a plethora of others.

No, you won't have to be subbed to play ESO on GFN, just own the game on either Epic or Steam. The free play event is on all platforms at the moment.

Great. I am hoping the patching cycle for ESO on GFN will not be as bad as it is for other games. From my experience GFN decides when they are going to patch the game and they do it on their time. Last one for Starfield took about 6 days and they waited for at least a week before beginning it after it was already good to go on Steam. They will not explain the way they operate to anyone. I searched the internet and all I found was the same generic message from them to everyone who had a question about what was going on. But I try not to focus on that. The service is well worth it in today's times. Gaming PCs are getting further and further out of reach price wise for a lot of people and a service like GFN is becoming more of the normal. Next Gen consoles are not doing well either so we have to live within our means and paying $20 a month for GFN is worth it to me to be able to enjoy the new games. Without it, it would not be possible.

I am a bit confused. ESO is available to play for me via GFN on PC/Mac. But NOT on my iPad. So, the device on which I would want to be abled to stream this game the most is not supported?

Is this common for GFN? That a game is available on certain devices only and not on others? And where is this documented?

Hope to see it on Luna someday. I miss playing ESO on Stadia.
Desperate for Roleplaying servers to bring open world non-organised RP to Elder Scrolls Online. Please ZOS.

    from gfn microsoft etc. faq

"Elder Scrolls Online is not available to play on GeForce NOW Android, iOS, iPadOS or TVs platforms.

GeForce NOW does not support the Public Test Environment or Launcher Beta at this time.

Switching between GeForce NOW browser app to another app may cause a window size error in the game

Epic Games Store only - clicking “STORE” on The Elder Scrolls Online launcher will not show the Epic Games Store.

If you wish to make any purchases, please visit the https://store.epicgames.com/ outside of GeForce NOW. "

This is normal. The reason behind that is that an iPad is considered a mobile device and not all games have a mobile version controllable via gamepads, etc.

In the case of ESO, however, this should be possible, since ESO does have a "gamepad version". Perhaps because the NVIDIA GeForce NOW version is a PC version, that could be why.

Perhaps they'll add support for iPads in some time.

Stadia was way ahead of it's time. Hopefully, GFN will be able to catch up.
