This can only be done this year during the event. If you skip it, then in the future you won't be able to buy the 2024 cake despite playing in 2024. And the cakes are bound, so you can't have another account provide the cake for you. Alternative characters on the same account, no. The achievement is account wide.

The cake grants event tickets and that's it. In the past, it also gave you bonus exp. However, starting this year, that effect is now passive for the duration of the event.

Even if you don't think you'd use the replica furniture now, it's still worth getting, because you never know what the future will bring. You don't want to decide in 2027 you want to use the 2024 cake, only to find out you permanently and irrevocably locked yourself out of it despite playing during this time.

I meant alts on the same server. I assume the answer to that is "no" beyond the tiny gold given for that quest.

No argument, just noting my alts are all on the same server, though 4 of them. Gets tedious quite quickly, but it is a decent money making event, so maybe I just put everything on hold for a while and focus on crafting dailies.
