Vulkhel Guard City is "Odd"

I sometimes logout near the wayshrine in Vulkhel Guard. Some places there are in the city and others have the "timeout" before logging out.

Why isn't the whole area covered as in the city with the proper benefits for that?

It's those damned Heritance infiltrators making it an unsafe area.

Lots of places are like this. If you're near a merchant, stablemaster, crafting station etc though you should be good. Avoid being near a wayshrine.

The missed benefit is not getting "resting credit in city" while logged out. You are kind of warned because it will not take a countdown to logout if you are "in the city" but it is still annoying when you have to find the exact right spot to stand in.

This is another longstanding issue (I recall) that has never been addressed. It may be other places, but I notice it here far more regularly, though I do get it near the wayshrine in Alinor at times as well.

What resting credit? You mean enlightenment? That gets added after level 50 for your account when the daily reset occurs, and is not affected by logout location.
    @Djennku, PCNA.

Grand Master crafter, all styles and all furnishing plans known pre U41.
Vamp and WW bites available for players.
Shoot me an in-game mail if you need anything, happy to help!

That is not what I read years ago.

What would the point of being in a city be then?

I vaguely recall Enlightenment having issues in the very distant past when it was first introduced (as in, I think it did matter where you logged out), but I'm not aware of any location-based bonuses now. I take short breaks frequently in random places and never fail to get my Enlightenment bonuses. Public dungeons, random zones, what have you.
I think a screenshot would be beneficial here, if it's something you're actively seeing.

Last 3 days, VG is very busy due to the event do there might be timeout before logging out.

This rant is based on a wrong assumption (gaining enlightment isn't dependent of resting location) and therefore is completely baseless.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Lol what? The enlightenment bonus just 'dings' in at 1000 UST wherever you are.

The only issue with these locations is the long logout timer, which will reset easily if you alt tab. It's a minor annoyance but that's about it.

It's nice to see that all the actual problems with ESO have been solved and this is what's left to complain about.

That is good to know if true. I thought you had to be in a city to get the bonus. I don't worry about it much, but I take all I can get.

The issue is not "baseless". One spot logs out instantly. One 5 steps nearby logs out after a 9 second countdown. It appears it may not have any enlightenment penalty, but it still delays things for the countdown.

I will have to try that on the PC. Alt just cancels the logout. Not sure the same thing on console. It doesn't even have the "skip it and take the risk" option there.

Others have addressed the "resting in city" thing, but the timeout to log out is probably due to this:

There is a special quest area in the city that may restrict fast logout in related areas.

They aren't in Alinor, which can have similar issues.

Can we just note this is a long-lasting bug that deserves to be cleaned up but that probably never will? Remember the guy with his rear hanging out of the wall above in the Clockwork City area? That did finally get fixed and it originally could be worked around, but glitches like that really should get cleaned up.
