Profile will not load since update 41

I'm on XBox Series X (NA server) and downloaded the update Tuesday. Immediately I got the error message that it could not load my profile and had no network connectivity.
"Loading Profiel Failed You do not currently have network connectivity. This title requires a network connection as well as access to the Xbox Network."
I have:
Restarted my router
Cleared storage data
Cleared game data (the kind where it's supposed to sync next time I play)
Uninstalled and re-installed the game...twice.
The one time I was able to load the game is when it actually DID sync data after I tried for the 15th time to log in.
I have also:
arbitrarily deleted other games and possible troubled apps
made sure to log in to other games, which I did successfully
hard rebooted the xbox itself many, many times
turned off the interent connection and reconnected it. My NAT is open, I am hard wired. I have no idea what else to do. Help!
