Resolved. Companion Quest Won't Start

Am on an alt. Went to get Bastian. Neither Zeechis nor Bastian will talk to me, other than the initial "Glad you found me" from Bastian or "Perhaps this wasn't such a grand idea" from Zeechis. After that conversation with Zeechis, he is quiet. I cannot start Bastian's quest.

I haven't tried any of the other companions yet.

Have you tried starting the quest directly from the collection menu? If I recall correctly, if you're on a character who doesn't have the companion, selecting them on the collection menu gives you an option to start the quest.

I didn't even know I could do that. I've always run up to the area. I'll try and post back.

EDIT: When I went to do that; I saw I already had him! That's kind of silly, isn't it? I must have forgotten. I would think he'd be gone though from the site and being tied up. I know Zeechis can stay if you choose to talk to Bastian first to start the quest, or Zeechis will disappear if you talk to him first to start the quest. It's strange that Bastian is still there, which is what made me think (after forgetting that I had him) that something was wrong with this quest.

I will try to get Mirri today. Hopefully that works. EDIT: Mirri's quest has started. I'm guessing this issue can be closed due to "user error" :P

It is pretty funny that you can mosey on up to tied-up Bastian with your companion Bastian after the quest is over.

I'd argue that there is still a bug here- namely that Bastian and Mirri continue to appear at their recruitment quest starting locations after their quests are finished. I don't think their continued presence is intentional because ZOS has stated in the past that part of their rationale for not implementing account-wide companion unlocks or making companions out of existing npcs was so that you couldn't bring a companion to interact with a "previous" version of themself. They have also fixed a couple of similar issues in the past. Namely, Azandar no longer shows up in Apocrypha after doing his quest and in this most recent update Ladlow Menant and his mote assailant no longer appear after you finish Ember's quest.

Bastian and Mirri have not been so lucky thus far. Bastian in particular has it rough, he calls for help to passersby and they just come and stare at him, and maybe talk to him, but don't untie him :D

Please, @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno, set him (and Mirri) free. He might be disliked by a plurality of fans (not including me if that isn't obvious) but he doesn't deserve to stay tied up forever :bawling:

Yes :D If he was gone, I wouldn't have posted this and took up peoples' times. I thought since he was sitting there, I needed to do the quest. I didn't think to look if I had him already, because he was sitting there! It's pretty weird.
