1H and Shield weapon swap question

I thought I understood how the weapon swap function is supposed to work but I am experiencing some issues so I wanted to ask if I am doing something wrong, if it is a bug or if it is working as intended.

I have a Templar that started out as a healer but more and more I have been setting up as a tank with 1H and Shield with a restoration staff loaded as my second weapon. I am able to switch on the fly in or out of combat to the restoration staff from my main weapon, but I am unable to switch back until I mess around equipping and unequipping weapons after the combat is done.

I get the impression that I should be able to switch back to the 1H and Shield during a fight but currently I am unable too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure what's going wrong for you there. I have no issues swapping back and forth between weapons during combat.

Hmm, must be some sort of bug then. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Before I start messing around with settings/key bindings etc I should probably make sure its not a known issue that I have avoided until now.

Problems can occur when you change the hotkey to certain keys. Someone was complaining that it didnt work when he put it on a number key. Hope that helps.

Thanks Thechemicals, that may be the problem. I remapped the Weapon swap functionality to a different key. I will try changing it back.

I did a little digging through the forums and it appears I am far from the only one experiencing this issue. One work around that I have found on the forums but haven't been able to test in game until the work day is done is to move your Sword and Board/2-weapon setup to the second hotbar and the 2-Handed weapon to the first hotbar.

People are reporting this work around successfully allowing them to swap back and forth. Second hand information I realize but I will test it this evening.

I have the same issue, i have board and sword in first slot and resto staff in second. I hit the switcher and sometimes my abilities swap sometimes they dont but the staff stays.

I tested the work around and in my case moving the 2-H weapon to my first hotkey bank and the sword + board to the second hotkey bank resolved my issue.

Hopefully that helps others that are experiencing this issue until it can be fixed.
