Colors a bit strange now

As already mentioned, I have a high-end 4k screen. The game looked fine yesterday. Now the color is oversaturated and the gamma or shadows (or something like that) is just wrong. I play on max settings, with a 3090 card.

Btw, are there any new graphic settings in U41?

The System Chat color of yellow was so bright it was difficult to read any chat next to it.. I modified the color settings.

The overall appearance of somethings in the games (stone buildings, the roads, and foliage) take on a very odd yellow tint.

The yellow on the map is brighter, the old and worn look is gone.

Other than the char screen I don't see a difference at max graphics.Possible you logged in during sunrise/sunset times, since it washes the whole zone in a yellow/orangy color.Could be if oyou get auto updates for graphics cards,or if HDR gets turned on /off,since I know they adjust some settings as they add new games to drivers,or if your graphics prefs ingame got corrupt and rebuilt to default.

I didn't notice any significant difference in saturation apart from the unbearable new menu screen and probably on the yellow and orange at a sunset in High Isle. But in Summerset I did notice something wrong that appeared to be related with the shadows, but not everywhere.

I really hope they don't change the game. The light and colors in this new menu is kind of scary, but I didn't notice anything as bad as it in the game yet.

I had to turn the gamma up and bloom off.

I don't mind, too much, the bright orange background, since I don't look at the load screen very long.
But, that is one of the main times to see how your character's face looks, and the lighting makes their faces all dark and craggy.

These two look very different to me, presumably just based on graphics settings. The second image is fine, it's a nice sunset filter that I wouldn't assume is going to be all over the Gold Road zone. The character select screen is a nice style preview for the upcoming zone, not a graphical one.

Edit: In particular, the trees in the first image are way too bright. I think that's the main thing making the second image look better, not overall graphics settings.

It's bloom plus depth of field settings.

If this graphics nerf is intentional, it must be the first time in gaming history that devs decide to make a game look much worse than it did before an update. This is a downdate.

Yeah it's not just the color wash. The graphics on the characters at the selection screen are notably degraded from yesterday. And the glare tends to hide the new increased pixelation.

It was already pointed out, but at a glance I could see that one had DoF enabled and the other didn't. That's kind of important for separating the front from the background, and without it can lead to more eye strange because there isn't really a specific focus point.

It may also depend on the user's monitor type screen brightness, in-game gamma and maybe even the general room setting. I have a 300 nit VA panel at 60% brightness with like 1/3 gamma in the game's calibration. I also play in a usually dark room.

Forgot to add in; the Char-select screen is not perfect. I personally thing front lighting should be added somewhere. I've got a lot of highlight on the left of my Argonian's forehead.

My login screen had a some reallly bright reflections that actually kind of hurt to look at, particularly on characters with light colored hair.

I lowered gamma a smidge, changed to nvidia dlaa, and used the space gi on ambient occlusion and it looks much, much better. I turned up shadows and subsampling as well, but those are going back to potato next time I am in Cyrodiil lol.

I also fiddled with the contrast on my monitor but I don't think that made much difference.

I made the trees look more like trees than flames by doing two things. I went into my TV settings and sure enough it was set to very bright. Turned that to Normal. For the game I added DoF Simple and now the trees don't look like fire and it didn't cut into performance. I did mess around with the other settings but lost FPS on those.

This is my main issue too. My characters' faces are in so much shadow, their eyes all look like sunken pits.

All my other games look great with my current monitor settings. ESO also looked great before the update. I’m not going to change my display settings just because devs in one game have messed up the colors after an update.

THIS MUST BE FIXED BY ESO.

Looks like everything in the background is on fire. This is a 1080p 40 inch HDTV screenshot. Not going to be critical or ugly here as I have moved past that. Colors are definitely bright and saturated. If there is a way to tone them down that would be great but if not that is ok as well.

Part of the issue is the lighting is all wrong. The sun is clearly behind all the trees and yet the trees are being lit up as if the sun is lighting the face of them. Depth of field actually mutes the colours on the trees and makes them look more realistic ( i don't like playing with DoF though since it doesn't work with where your eyes are looking it just doesn't work.)

Also the character shadow in the second picture is facing the wrong direction again as if the lighting is coming from behind in front of the NPC (in the first pic shadows must be off or something since there are no shadows at all.)

So yah, it's too bright in the wrong way, shadows are in the wrong direction so it all looks a bit weird. I do like the colours, but the scene just needed a bit more attention to the lighting details.

On my screen the main issue is that black (shadows etc) are a bit off, like gamma or something isn’t working properly. It’s too dark, reducing details. Adjusting gamma makes the game too bright. It’s still playable, but ESO needs to get colors back to how it was prior to the update.

The loading screen pictures are worse, too “grainy”, almost as if resolution has been nerfed a lot. Bloom is not an issue.

I'll try recalibrating my gamma but I *am* running max settings. I can't remember what graphics card I have but I know it's a Radeon 5000 series, think 5600?

Same with my PC RTX 4090, and other systems (M1 Mac.) Way too bright.

One of my characters is a Redguard dressed completely in white. Since the update, his face is mostly obscured by shadow, and his outfit looks a sickly, jaundiced yellow on the character select screen.

    Very disappointing.
