Mine:
Deathmatch : best and
  1. most enjoyable, action everywhere and non stop, teamplay+++
  2. Death ball : non stop action and teamplay
  3. Mad King : Running simulator, lots of time doing nothing standing on a point if you play the objective, that's why most people prefer to not bother with objectif and have fun fighting. Not enjoyable.
  4. Domination : Your life lost while standing in front of a screen close to flag. Pray to have a fight, otherwise the mode I not just like less, I hate I despise, I want to commit suicide each time I feel I waste time like in this mode, time I could have employed otherwise, I wish it never existed in this game.

    Same list for me. Capture the relic is by far the mode that I least want to participate in, to the point that I just hope one opponent has a sprintVx build just to get it over with fast while I go somewhere else to fight and let our relic get stolen repeatedly.

    Chaosball can be fun regardless of whether or not you play the objective, but there are times when it's especially enjoyable when everyone is playing the objective.

    Best: Chaosball when it's 12 solo randoms on damage builds, no tanks or healers, no terrain exploits

    Worst: Crazy King, which punishes players for finishing off fights rather than chasing the next flag

    most of the others i do like, though i would say a lot of it is actually the map i have issues with instead of the game mode, some of the maps are way too large for a small scale BG

    edit: chaosball is definitely one of the most fun modes as long as theres no cheeseball play

    chaos ball- fun and focused
    domination- classic pvp mode that just works.... usually
    deathmatch- meh, at the very least it is usually quick
    crazy king- domination but you get punished for doing anything that is not immediately running to the newly spawned flag
    capture the relic- just awful

    i like the others mostly the same.
    i think my favourites are Domination and King.

    edit to add: i wish there was a queue for specific modes like how we can queue for specific dungeons.

    DM last. Always got into AoE, got sandwiched between 2 teams, out of stamina, cc'ed, ulti doesn't fire and died. Oh and enemy teams always get great healers, never happened with other modes.

    hmm maybe it's because often I'm the only melee guy in team?

    for land grabs:

    domination all of the capture points are "fixed" in 5 locations and remain there throughout the match, the typical "hold more flags, get more points" methodology

    crazy king is kind of like king of the hill, but using the flags from domination, the flags will despawn over time, and the start of the match has fewer flags (starts at 1 and then goes up to i think 4 active flags as the match goes on), the start of this mode is great if you have a solid 4 man group who sticks together, but these groups will fail the objective if they dont spread out later when more flags are available (more flags = more points)

    Deathmatch is by far the best, because you're actually rewarded for fighting and killing people.

    Chaosball is nice mostly unless you get one team with full tanks and healers just carrying the ball from the start.

    In Crazy King you get one nice fight at the start and then it gets pretty boring, because everyone starts running after flags.

    Domination and Capture the Relic are both absolutely boring and almost never fun, because in most games it is most effective to avoid fighting as much as possible.

    Crazy King. These two really depend on which map you get. Some are outright brutal, like Arcane University and Istirus












    Capture the Relic. To the point I have considered helping other teams win when stuck on a bad squad to end it quicker.

    I don't like any game modes where it's capturing points or capturing an objective because far too many of those end up with 1 player who maxes out speed to run the chaos ball or relic or run from flag to flag and the game ends in 2 minutes.
    I feel the same about a block tank that sits at the objective spamming X to capture or bashing you constantly.

    Crazy king is not bad because at least the flags go away so run builds can't anticipate the flags as easily and tanks are less effective because that can't sit in 1 spot the entire game.

    Chaos ball definitely needs a ramping snare to prevent you from just running laps around the map, it removes the "Chaos" aspect of it.

    So to my surprise I must say, according to your answers (I wish we could do an automatic poll):
    • Deathmatch is the most polarized BG, with lovers and haters
    • Chaosball seems globally the most appreciated
    • Domination globally the least appreciated

    Please ZOS, like in SC2 tournaments, allow us to ban some mods or use this to... remove domination, no one puts it first.

    Domination could be a lot more interesting if there were only 1 or 2 domination points, which is to say less points than there are teams. Unfortunately the way the battlegrounds maps are set up, they are not necessarily conducive to this unless the domination points are randomly chosen from the crazy king spawn points.

    1 domination point would be a more king of the hill style game which could really be exciting.

    thats why i like crazy king over domination

    the first half of the match only has like a total of 1-3 flag points, crazy king turns kind of into domination after 3+ flags though with the only difference being the flags despawn/reset ownership

    Sure, killing always includes fighting though, even if the enemies are not great at fighting back.

    In most of the other modes you're rewarded for not doing any fighting at all.

    Also most of that could be fixed if there was an actual MMR system that put you against players that are roughly around your level.

    True that going in BG to run or stand still is not fun (to me).
    It seems like Crazy King Domination and Relic are a separate game where we should be able to change gear, spec and class and be called "Running and Standing still grounds" and not Battlegrounds.

    To me CK, Domination and at a lesser extent relic are a loss of valuable time.

    He's quite good! I can only run in straight line back to base since map always confuses me. Even so most wouldn't bother chasing. Only once I was immobilized and snared, and died of course. Nobody in that video stun charged him or immobilize with long distance crippling grasp.


    That's why I don't like DMs. There is no use of tactics and usually the score only depends on how good your healers are. And we all know most only pick easy targets, not fight those of their level. Objective means they'd be forced to fight the right opponents or lose the game.

    I can argue that there's also no tactics in building high speed and just running laps around the map like that. Also trying to CC these types of players doesn't do much because 90% of the time no one is built to be fast in a game mode, they're built to damage, heal, tank, etc all at once.
    So realistically there's no way to counter someone who's built for all speed in a game mode like this for most players. No one goes into pvp thinking "okay I need to stop this max speed build from ending the game in 2 minutes by running around", that's not PVP.

    And these game modes don't incentivize people to actually pvp, you win by doing what this guy is doing, and not being caught/killed by the enemy teams.
