Suggestion for console version

So I know I'm beating a dead horse here but something has got to give with the Jump/interact/talk button all being the A button (on Xbox). I'm tired of accidentally stealing from merchants who move at the last second and I don't want to turn off stealing as I sometimes want to purposefully steal, and I'm tired of running along to jump over a low wall only to find myself suddenly reading a nearby book. The worse situation I've been in is when I'm stuck in a small confined area, like inside a small boat or those small fire pits in some buildings, and I'm unable to jump out because every direction I look in the A button is trying to talk to a nearby NPC. Unfortunately using an elite controller doesn't fix this as remapping A still results in a button doing all three things. There is an option in the settings for three different control schemes and template C does separate the Jump from the talk/interact, but the Jump becomes Left stick click which is unintuitive (can be remedied with an elite) but the problem of talk/interact being the same remains, also template C makes weapon swap by long pressing Y which is not good when you're in the heat of battle and need to swap quickly. So I want to propose a fourth template. Template D. Keep jump on A, but this is the only thing A does. To talk to a NPC press right on D pad, this may seem awkward at first but normally I'm not trying to talk to an NPC while making quick decisions and I'll be able to take a moment to move my thumb to the D pad because I'm not in a heat of the moment situation. As far as I'm concerned swapping quest with the right D pad can completely go and I wouldn't miss it, but if people are hellbent on keeping that, then a long press on right D pad to talk to NPCs and quick tap to cycle through quests. Then a long press down on D pad to switch camera view and tap down on D pad to interact with objects. This will prevent accidentally stealing. The tap down on D pad to interact might also feel awkward at first but like before, usually I'm not in the heat of battle when opening chests or flipping switches etc, so the extra time it takes to move my thumb to D pad wouldn't matter much.

    Whilst I partly agree

You can just turn off the steal option or back on when needed.

It would be nice to separate the features as mentioned. However there so much else that console need that imo this is bottom of the list.

Also top tip, not to be a grammar ***, but consider pressing return occasionally.

It really helps the reader engage with your post.

There are so many problems with the controller setup (for me atm it's trying to rez someone who travels away, and ending up in the menu just as I get bombed :D) but with only so many buttons there's no way around it without losing skills.

Whenever I play skyrim I love that jump is triangle and always feel a bit sad going back!

The menu rez is by far the worst design for the PS controller. Maddening.

Why don't they allow console players to remap all the controls like PC players can? The game already supports it and I know some console games have that function already so the consoles are capable of doing it.

It's a very useful option, even if you only want to make a few minor changes and it seems odd not to allow it considering the functionality is already in the game.

@Danikat you can, but there are not a lot of options. The one thing PS players have wanted is to make the big rectangle pad (that you almost never use) the rez button instead of the "Start" button, which controls the menu and the rez. That would fix a lot but its not an option

Give up and join us on PC. How can anyone play without mini-map anyway?

That's what I mean. On PC you can change the bindings for each action individually, to any key on the keyboard or any button on your mouse. Some console games do the same; you can set which button you use for each action, and some even support specialist things like recording gestures on the touch pad or using the motion controls.

Since the game already supports fully customising the controls I don't understand why they don't allow players to do it on all 3 platforms.

    Agree.
Please ZOS try to make keybindings work on console as they do on PC (freedom to assign).

Some suggestions (console fixes required) :
    - Please fix the zoom in when the map is open. Currently you can't zoom in properly.
    - Please re-work the button layout when at a banker on console: it's still impossible to stack the items that are in the personnal bank (the stack option doesn't appear, which means the itens have to be withdrawed, stacked and deposited. It's tedious.)

Another solution would be is if ESO on console supported keyboard and mouse.

The annoying thing is it does support keyboard, but only for chat. I don't get on with keyboard gaming but it's nice to have options and if it's there anyway...

I can sympathise. I often jump up and down when trying to interact with people or items, but just miss by a bit.
