Avoiding having a disc in my PS5 to play ESO

I've read all I can but just want final confirmation on how to go fully digital.

I have an original ESO PS4 disc from when I had a PS4. Upgraded at Summerset and then had a break until High Isle by which time I was on PS5. I upgraded to Necrom but was disappointed to still be relying on the disc to play ESO.

If I purchase one of the Gold Road Collections when it delivers will I be finally able to retire the disc? I'm persistantly worried it's going to fail. I realise that I'll be repurchasing the base game but have come to terms with that. Are there any known issues with repurchasing the whole game rather than the simple upgrade?

Buying the collection instead of the upgrade will definitely be fine (I did it with Necrom to get a couple of other chapters I had skipped). It should also work to remove your need for the disc, although I haven't tested it, and you might need to uninstall and reinstall the game for the change to stick.

Alternately, I've heard of other people going fully digital by just buying the base game when it goes on sale (for something like $5). Doing that and then just buying the Gold Road upgrade might be cheaper if you already have or don't want any of the older chapters.

there are no issues with purchasing the collection if you have it already.

and i am quite sure you get everything from the Collection immediately right now except Gold Road.
so you could go fully digital right now

As mentioned above, to fully go digital all you need to do is purchase the base game for ESO.
