Arcanist is the only class that has an easy to use rotation and doesn't require the user to deal with the mess of a game mechanic that is Attack Weaving. Considering that most players are DPS players and dps is king is this game. Yeah a lot of players are going to like this class.

That is what I like about it. Its straight forward. I don't need to study you tuybe videos for hours to figure out how to play it.

I just wish ESO gearing worked the same way. What seems straightforward rarely works, what seems like a cobbled mess seems to be BIS.

That is what I miss most about WOW, SWTOR, or any other MMO I played was gearing. If I got a piece of gear that had more crit and more damage, it worked better in my rotation and my DPS went up. There was a lot LOT less theoryu crafting.

I hate spreadsheets and I don't care to do a ton of math to know whether I should use a gear set or not. I want to use it because it looks cool/maybe has cool effects.

(Morkuldin I am looking at you).

I have never had to ever watch YouTube videos or spreadsheets to figure out how to play the other classes. The other classes are not complicated and even though people claim this, fun fact there isn't 1 set way to play the class. This game isn't that hard and things are not complicated especially with sets. The easier aspect can work in certain games like FF14, I enjoy 14 alot but ESO is different. Not trying to talk trash to you but I cannot wrap my head around people asking for a easier game with ESO.

If only Arcanist visual effects weren't so obnoxious, I can't really make myself play that thing.

Its nice that you figured it out, this is not the case for the vast majority of people who come to this game however.

In other games when you get a piece of armor that has a higher crit chance than the piece you are wearing, and your stat sheet goes up, you do better. Its that simple. Easy to read, easy to understand.

In eso however, you can see your crit go up but see no net effect becasue there are other things to consider like penetration, status effects, etc etc. And ESO passives make a HUGE impact on how well a class works or not, and you have to build to those passives. The thing is, passives are not in your face, not seen on the stat sheet and like most things, out of sight, out of mind.

The situation in ESO vs other games is a lot more nuanced than I am willing to get into right now, but the proof is in the pudding. ESO's population has never been as strong as wow, FFXIV, etc. Its often on the lower end of the "popular" mmorpgs and part of this is becasue its not easy to understand and this is just talking about PVE. PVP is a completely different ballgame but worse and this is reflected by how few engage in that activity.

IMO, ESO has too much "buffing" and "debuffing" going on (these are the hidden aspects most players do not understand) and in part what makes combat difficult.
