Bookbinding supplies seem to only drop when running with another player

From my experience, bookbinding supplies only drop when you're running with another player. I have completed about 30 solo/companion runs, most just through the arc, but some up to arc six, and got exactly zero of them. The very first run I went with another player, we've got two before the second boss, and almost completed the quest before killing Tho'at.

✭✭✭✭✭I am sure I have gotten the awl bookbinding plan a couple of times when running solo. Any furnishing plan drops are super rare for me anyway, though
I have only run this once with another player.

✭✭✭✭✭It took me dozens of runs (including to arc 6, so not just quick runs) to get the bookbinding supplies, but they *can* drop solo. Not sure why the rate seems so low... it's not as if you even get some amazing reward at the end lol. In all those runs, I've never had a purple or gold furnishing plan drop either. I wish they'd put some of the plans up on the vendor randomly so I could buy them with archival fortunes. I don’t think I’ve even gotten a blue plan yet. Just greens.
Luckily the blue plans are cheap enough to buy but the purples are not.

I get plans every so often while running IA solo, but I don't pay attention to what they are; I just learn them if I don't already know them, or stick them in my bank so my alts can learn them.
If perchance you are talking about furnushing plans, are you looting all lootable containers, or are these particular plans supposed to drop from somewhere specific-- the bosses' corpses, the munificent chests, etc.?I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!0 -

I assumed OP was taking about furnishing plans. Some of them have “bookbinding” in the title, like the awl I mentioned.

✭✭✭✭✭Ah I thought they were talking about items needed for the side quests you get from the portal to the unknown that takes you to some library type room with a questgiver... iirc, the first time they want you to find lost pages... then the second time it's lockboxes with bookbinding supplies or something like that... then it turns into a repeatable quest. For me at least, completing any of those quests always takes an inordinate amount of time.0 -

Could be, OP hasn’t clarified. If so, I have been getting those solo too, but rarely.

i assumed from the post that it's about the Destozuno side quest supplies.
