Pairing Plaguebreak

I’ve been attempting my first foray into theory crafting. Plaguebreak looks like an interesting set, especially for its quasi-bomber aspect for stamina builds. What I’m having trouble with, though, is what to pair it with for synergy.

There are the usual sets that everyone goes for when creating a PvP build. Rallying Cry, Clever Alchemist, Daedric Trickery, New Moon Acolyte, etc. These sets represent a static “enhances overall” effect to any build. What I’m trying to do instead, though, is consider truly complimentary sets that can better utilize that playstyle of Plaguebreak. I’ve considered Azureblight Reaper for the additional bomber damage it provides, or the Affliction set for added utility in lowering heal quality.

I play on console so I don’t have the option of play testing this on PTS. Once I have the sets in mind, I’ll have to start farming for them to finish the build. So as not to waste my time in compiling a build built to fail, I thought I should turn to you all, the endless knowledge base for all things PvP. I standby appreciative of your expertise.

I think a lot of people use Vicious Death for bombing

It's pretty fun as a back bar set. If you use a plaguebreak ice staff with ele-sus it's a complete upgrade over the vat staff and you can get your defense from traits, armor weights, skill choices etc... you won't be full on brawling though.

If I had rush of agony I'd probably be able to make a big boom by tagging every one with ele sus and plaguebreak then gap closing in.

That’s a novel take, I hadn’t thought of using it backbar like that. I find Plaguebreak to be a really interesting set, but I don’t really know how to utilize it in a way that would be most productive. It doesn’t seem particularly good for BG’s with so few grouped players around, and it doesn’t seem like your normal burst type play in Cyro. It seems like a support DD set, kind of like Alkosh is now, for utilizing in a group with vicious death bombers. Many of the PvP sets seem like this to me. They require a certain playstyle to take advantage of, unlike your traditional PvE sets which are basically just damage per sec races.

I think of it like 3-4 damage set build, but one of those damage sets can be put on your back bar since you don't have to proc it all the time, so then you can pick up a few extra stats with markyn and trainee. It's glass cannon+

my pvp toon is currently using plaguebreak + rush of agony lol

have a blackrose bow back bar (dont need rush proc on my bow bar), and a sellistrix monster set

How do you run it? Guessing you don’t run a Mythic, but instead do well-fitted body medium armor? Do you dual wield or 2Hander?

dual wield front bar

so my current method is basically NB ambush for gap close (trigger rush of agony), slap down turn evil, and then whirling blades or surprise attack, depending on if the enemy is in execute range or not

the gap close + rush + turn evil is great if your in a group too

sellistrix basically is an easy dmg proc that can stun

the playstyle works for me, but some might find the build a bit squishy in the current meta lol
