Critical hits, do they apply to weapon skills?

I thought that I'd spend a few skills points upping my critical hit chance. Is it possible to land a critical hit using weapon skills or do they just apply to bog standard melee hits? With standard weapon damage being so poor compared to skill damage I hardly ever us them.

All weapon skills and weapon-like spells use melee critical hit chance, so you can crit off of skill line abilities.

Actually Staff weapon skills use spell crit, but all others work as @SirPuppingtonVonHat mentioned.
