More Common Tribute Opponents

The people of Tamriel have largely seemed to have forgotten about Tribute, save for those three people in every bar. For a game that was supposed to have been a burgeoning sensation, it feels strange to me that almost nobody plays it. I wish it were possible to play with more NPCs than those three patrons. Barkeeps, shop owners, traveling merchants, farmers - anyone really. It would be so nice and feel more natural if we could find casual NPC opponents of varying ability in the world and start a game.

I find it strange that there isn't a ToT table full of NPCs in every zone, let alone every bar, tavern, or inn. Especially a place like Hew's Bane, full of thieves, who would seem predisposed to gambling.

Yeah, exactly! Right now the implementation of the game feels very mechanical - go to this specific place and play against one of these three people. A more natural way of engaging with the game would do it a lot of good, I think.

I hate to compare it to that other open-world RPG card game, but I feel like they got it right.

Hew's Bane and The Sticks should definitely have a Tales of Tribute table with rowdy looking NPCs.

@disky I kind of wish they had it like FF card game years ago, can't remember the version, where you could challenge almost all NPCs to a game. But that would probably mess up the servers or something. At the very least, it should be in every zone though

The only reason I can think of for NOT doing it is if they feel a need to add voice lines prior to starting the game, like an "oh sure, let's play." I don't really think that's necessary, and if that is what's going on then I think it's holding the game's accessibility back quite a bit.

I hate to reference Gw*nt as I have in other threads already, but I feel like CDPR kind of nailed it. When you ask an NPC to start a game, there's no voice line, just a nod or a grunt and the game begins. And there are tons of available opponents.
