Guard Confiscated a crafted item?

Are guards able to confiscate non stolen items now? I accidentally stole some white boots off a table and got a bounty. Guards got me shortly after and I paid the bounty and the guard confiscated the white stole boots but also took an epic crafted shield I had?!?!? Is this a bug or did I miss a change somewhere with how the justice system works?

'crafted' cannot be 'stolen'. You cannot reverse-pickpocket an item, as it was in Skyrim.

Looks like some illegal search and seizure to me, best call your lawyer. And file a bug report.

Open a support ticket so they can look into it and sort it out for you if possible. A bug report won't get you a response.

Maybe you used a stolen mat to make it and didn't realize it.It might not show stolen,but could flag as stolen serverside.Never had it happen to me,but just a theory.Maybe we can try and make item with stolen goods and see if it happens again.

There was this one time on the forums I asked "is it possible for a guard to confiscate a stolen food item that's been very recently consumed"?. The awnser is yes.

Do you mean a stolen ingredient that's been used to craft a food item?

I crafted an iron dagger using stolen Obsidian, and the guard did not confiscate it. I haven't yet been able to find and steal any base materials.

Now I'm imagining an Argonian guard with their scaly, clawed hands reaching into your mouth down your throat and pulling out a half eaten roast chicken and you lose your stat buff... WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT?? Argonian eats your half-digested meal while staring you dead in the eyes, unblinking.

A guard NPC took a non-stolen item from the player, that's more like a bug.

There is a bug with some UI add-ons that shows items being confiscated by guards that you have somehow removed from your inventory. For example, one Jester’s event I put a Dubious Camoran Throne recipe in my bank. Then I was caught by the guard while stealing the apples for the quest. The add-on said the guard confiscated my DCT recipe because it inaccurately concluded that the recipe was confiscated based on the fact it was no longer in my inventory after the guard took the stolen apples. The recipe was not confiscated at all. The add-on was incorrect.
