Moral choices (spoilers inside)

Ok, in many spots we get to make a "game changing" decision such as to the new Silvinar, the Kajit twins, etc. Anecdotally I have not been able to discern any real penalty for what we decide. Example:

In the choosing the new Silvinar or letting him stay with his wife and kids. Does the wife starve and die with no support if you pick him???? I really like the choices, but they need to have bigger consequences or follow up. I am guessing had I picked the other twin to become the Mane it would have been equally a good choice. One of them failing or the followers disagreeing and revolting would have been a bigger impact.

Anyone notice a choice that really had impact other than the mages 2 points, which at end game will basically not amount to much?

It's not a BIG impact, but I did notice just last night that a random guard chided me for letting a grieving mother kill the apothecary who fed her son to HIS son (a vampire)... I thought it was only justice, but the guard chided me all the same. I was tempted to wag a finger in her face and shout, "You weren't there! You don't KNOW!" ;)

If you choose to spare the apothecary, the guards will chide you for letting "that monster" live. Not exactly a major change.

Hmmm as I expected. No way to make a bad choice in the game. A lot could be learned from Wasteland/Fallout series.

There was a thread a while back devoted to tracking these differences. In a couple of cases it does affect your interaction with the character later (most obviously, if the NPC dies as a direct or indirect result of your decision, that changes things) but I don't think anyone found anything that actually affected play in any real way.

That said, I've noticed places where the NPC dialogue seems to imply that the NPCs, at least, do consider one to be the "right" and one the "wrong" choice. But in terms of consequences to *you* ... not so much.
I have just told you more than I know.

To give you an idea of a choice which I think most people would consider a bad outcome, in the Forgotten Crypts in Deshaan, if you tell Sela it's okay to stay in the camp in the cave,
    she gets eaten
    .

Also: Found the thread I was talking about.
