When i look for the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct in english i always get the german version for some reason:

Even when i change it to french, or any other language, it's still german:

I tried using Firefox and Google Chrome.
Does anyone know why this is, and where i can find the english version?

Are you in Germany? Does your PC think you're in Germany? Also is the main website or forum in English or German.

As this person and Virtus have noted, the issue is local settings. Good luck.

The website adjusts the language of that page based on your IP. You're in germany, and probably german too speaking by your username. The language you get to select in the top left corner of the webpage won't affect the TOS sadly. Not a problem if you want to read the terms of service for yourself. Bit unlucky if you want to share the english version with others to reference something in them of course.

No idea if it only happens to german players or if other players who got their language supported are dealing with the same issue.

Yes i am close to Germany.

I never use Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, so when i used them today it's like using brand new browsers without any settings.

    Autotranslate is deactivated.

When i change the language to english, french etc. on the website, everything else on the website changes language, just not the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.

So it's not just me? Thank you.

It works when i visit zenimax.com:

    https://www.zenimax.com/en/legal/terms-of-service

I am not sure if they are the same, but changing the language will change the language of the Terms of Service.

It's still strange that it doesn't work on elderscrollsonline.com...

    Local settings?

Settings on your pc, or with your internet service provider.

Ok, so Amottica is saying the issue is my PC and/or ISP? Not the way how elderscrollsonline(.com) is designed/programmed.

Kind of reminds me of every single interaction i ever had with customer support, and 90% of the conversations in this forum :)

I asked if you're in Germany because some sites will automatically translate it for you. I was going to recommend you take a lot at one of those websites that let you appear you're in a different country if it was the case, but it seems that you found Zenimax's website anyway.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's asking for assistance.

    Thank you for your understanding

Based on the information presented in this thread it is clear this is a local issue. How local we do not know. It is either based on a setting in your PC, a setting of some sort with the ISP, or that it has to do with the region the PC is located in as some things are region-locked. There is a fourth possibility and that is a setting you have made on the ESO website but that would likely make the entire site German.

If someone has a better suggestion other than was I have listed above, please do present it.

It is likely that “legal” documents have to be displayed in the local official language, especially if the region affects the terms, but the lack of of a link to translations is disturbing.
