Maybe. But the hype about eating raw eggs being dangerous is similar to the hype about the dangers of drinking raw milk. Eating raw eggs and drinking raw milk is not dangerous so long as the chickens and dairy cows are healthy and the products are handled cleanly.
I might be biased though. I grew up drinking raw milk and eating farm fresh eggs. (peacock eggs are huge and delicious too by the way)

I was shocked when my wife acted repulsed by the idea and told me it could be dangerous. She was very annoyed when I acted flippant in response. I'm normally the "fun fact" person between us, and frequently get very annoyed when she won't be swayed by professional consensus. So she accused me of that. I just shrugged and said, "the only thing I believe more than a professional opinion is 20+ years of firsthand experience." Oooh I must be an annoying man to live with.
But yes, I recognize there is a potential for danger there. Seems to me it must be pretty miniscule though.
Off topic but funny (to me,) my poor wife also tries to insist I wear bandaids and apply some type of Neosporin every time I get a cut or scrape. Which I basically never do. I told her once "it's not even bleeding anymore why on earth would I put on a bandaid?" Lol. Then again one time I was definitely still bleeding and said "best way to make it stop is to let a little blood dry on top. Who needs a bandaid when you can have a scab?" I've also said "fresh air helps wounds heal actually," which IS true I believe. One time I told her "bah, I'll just rub some dirt on it," and she really looked aghast. I was just kidding that time... But it was something we used to say in the Army.
Moral of the story I guess is... I annoy my wife. No wait...
"rub some dirt on it" sure brought back some flashbacks from the past for me. The younger generation needs a little more tough love like this I think. If you're not bleeding to death or need an ambulance, just rub some dirt on it.
