Where should I play eso?

Hello All,

I am wanting to get back into ESO but I’m not sure where I would have the best experience and where I should buy the expansions for now that they’d re on sale. I have the below options to play:

1. Xbox series X - Xbox version

Or

2. OnexPlayer handheld (similar to a steamdeck) would prob play here the most if I’m on PC version with an Old Razer laptop as a backup(2016 - has a gtx 1060) - PC Version

I have accounts on both with higher characters (more play time) on the Xbox. I believe I quit around the time open Tamriel was launched if that helps.

I don’t care about what is on each account though. I don’t have a dedicated gaming computer, I was curious which you would chose. I would not be using a mouse and keyboard but a controller as I know PC supports both. I believe the biggest difference would be the use of add ons. I don’t want to buy the expansions twice so I have to pick.

Any thoughts or feedback on this would be helpful!

if you don't have a dedicated gaming computer i would choose Xbox series X as it's probably gonna be more comfortable playing eso with that.

add-ons are nice, but without a gaming computer the game could be pretty slow and less nice to look at.

I couldn't play without a minimap and add-ons is the only way to get that.

I started off for what seemed like ages not using addons, now I can say totally honestly there are some that I would not want to play without!

I would choose a lesser performance over a better one just to use addons.

If you have the ability to fire up both of your accounts,, I would suggest doing that before you buy anything, just to check performance levels against each other and see if the PC set up is acceptable to you.

a 1060 is probably enough to play eso on. i use an i7 7700 sff pc with a gtx 1650 and that's 100fps you should be ok with the handheld and the laptop so long as you have a quality controller for the laptop to connect to either on usb or bluetooth. your laptop likely has hdmi out and so you can connect it to the tv when you want. thus you get all the addons you desire. mu sff is connect to a 40 inch 1080 p tv and thats great. you really arent going to play eso on 4k anyhow right?

clearly xbox will give you better performance but really the requirement for eso are not hard to meet for a great gaming experience.

I also have an xbox series x and laptop. PC is way more convenient. I was playing with a worse system gtx 1050 and was able to get close to 90-100 fps at 1080p, tweaking a few settings, turning down grass and view distance i think. The big thing is that series x is still capped at 60fps. Going to 100+fps is a game changer. I have since upgraded laptops. I just hdmi out to the tv and use the xbox controller. Lol. Basically, playing xbox through pc (using xbox/gamepad ui, etc). But you get addons, way better fps, and now better graphics. Eso is not a huge resource hog so lesser systems still work decently.

I play on PC with an i3-4370, 16Gb RAM, and a GTX 970 with no problems.
I don't spend a lot of time in Cyrodiil, so the performance problems afflicting that zone are not an issue for me.

I would say it depends. For example: If you want to play PvP in coordinated groups, Xbox EU might be a bad choice. If you just want to quest and look at flowers, then it really doesn't matter where you play. If you hate addons and don't like computers maybe you should play on xbox...

What kind of content do you want to play? Quests, Dungeons, Trials, Hardmodes, PvP, Housing, Fashion, Roleplaying, Trading...
Where do you want to play? NA or EU server?
You want to play alone or in groups/guilds/communities? And do you have friends playing ESO on Xbox or PC?
How do you feel about addons?

If I didn't have access to PC, I would go Xbox
I play PC because the add-ons make life so much more pleasant
Even PC, graphics card and monitor make a huge difference in experience
When I moved up to a system with a fast PC with graphics card that could support a widescreen 2K monitor, I was amazed by the difference in the sharpness and color - and for me, that's a big part of the experience
I suppose if action and not art is your main concern, that wouldn't be such a big deal

I’m not sure on content prob mostly questing solo to do story and such.

I’d love to play with people but even when I used to play it was mostly solo. No friends playing it.

I have no issues with add ons, I just know they can be annoying sometimes if you don’t keep them up to date or if they stop being supported.

I see it does work pretty well on the laptop and the handheld, it just makes the fans go crazy which is semi obnoxious heh

I think my only issue with using the laptop is it revs up like a rocket. Same with the handheld. The Xbox is so silent and I love that heh.

Nope. The game takes little to no ressources to run smoothly at 60fps. I have a two year old, run of the mill machine with an msrp of 599€. And my fans do not even start to spin when I play ESO.

The game is 10 years old ...
Two things though. Have a SSD, that's a must have these days, because of the OS requirements, not the game's requirements.
And the bottleneck is the latency of your internet connection, not necessarily the bandwidth.
