ESO Plus pricing

Is there anyone at Zos or ESO that can explain to me why there pricing in Canada is goofy? PS5 Na server
1 year sub is $172.99
6 month sub $77.99 (155.98 for the year)
3 month sub $41.99 (167.96 for the year)
1 month sub $19.99 (239.88 for the year)

The cheapest way to go is the 6 month sub. In the US its cheaper to go with the 1 year sub of so my American friends tell me. Why the disparity in the pricing schemes? Or is this have to with Sony and their pricing structure?
There is no reason to sub for the one year price. Anyone know why this structured this way?

My guess is: Canada pricing in dollars for products are 26% more expensive than the United States pricing. 🤷‍♀️. Its an economy related thing.

But that doesn't explain why the 1-year sub is $17 more than doing two 6-month subscriptions in the same region. Generally, companies offer a greater discount the longer the subscription term. With the rates cited, players are paying much more for opting for the year-long sub compared to subbing for six months and renewing at that rate. It doesn't make sense.

This is the Canadian pricing from the Microsoft Store for the Xbox version, it looks like it might be a pricing issue on the PS version, good for you though, save that money!

Agree. Usually buying for longer time or larger quantity is cheaper.
It keeps you locked in for longer and they get the money for an year now rater than an fraction so they can spend or invest it.
Here I guess some messed up.

Now some stores does not sell their large packages more cheaply, might even be more expensive.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's about ESO Plus.

    Thank you for your understanding

That is not their point. Subscription pricing tends to discount monthly costs when buying the larger packages. The 12-month package tends to be the lowest cost per month.

The OP notes that the 12-month package is the second most expensive way to go on his PS account.

That is backward and likely not intended.

@ZOS_Bill might want to take a look at this.

The UK prices don't have the same problem, but there's some other oddities. The main one being that the Playstation prices are higher than the PC and Xbox prices, and I'm not sure why. But also on Playstation only there's no saving when buying 3 months instead of 6, and for some reason the 6 month subscription doesn't auto-renew, but all the others do.

According to the official website the Xbox are PC prices are:
    1 month: £8.99
    3 months: £7.99 (£23.97)
    6 months: £6.99 (£41.94)
    1 year: £6.83 (£81.99)

    And the Playstation prices are:
    1 month: £9.99
    3 months: £9.99 (£29.99)
    6 months: £8.99 (£53.99)
    12 months: £8.74 (£104.99)

Also that means Playstation gets a very slightly better deal buying 1 year instead of 6 months, but the difference is still only £2.99 or £0.25 per month, whereas on Xbox and PC it's £1.89 or £0.16 per month.

The Canadian pricing makes sense for the PC version (matches the XBox pricing), so maybe it's an error for the PS5?

The pricing structure has been this way for about 2 years now.

Some of these same questions on the ESOReddit.

The only thing I have found (ESO Support Page search) is that for some Regions (Laws) they do not allow more than 30 day renewals for a "service" meaning that you can't bundle for discount so you get charged the 30 day price/mo for any longer periods.
*Some regions restrict auto-renewal for memberships longer than 30 Days. These memberships will be converted to 30 day and the end of their membership period. For more information visit this article.
