Map UI feedback: Quest signal not helpful at wayshrines, in towns

I run into this every event: if you don't yet know a zone well (new, returning players), it's hard to find daily quests.

In quest Journal > Show on Map, you get a nice ripple ping animation for where the quest is. (Left pic) Problem is, then you click on the Wayshrine to travel there, it no longer shows that. It shows the ping where YOU are, in the town. (Right pic)

ZOS please, I know I have to exit the town. I just forgot where the stupid boss is in 2 seconds and hate the game of "check journal-map-wayshrine-map-journal-map-wayshrine". Just keep the ping on the quest location.

(It's actually impossible to see which delve I have a daily quest in right now, even if I remove my addon map markers.)

yeah almost every new town starting with at least western skyrim had doors to get in and out of the main town, which the quests for dailies point to after you get them which is unhelpful in figuring out where they are supposed to go so you can take a wayshrine from the town to near your quest

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

strange, which quest is it? the "Show on map" option always works for me

if it's an event, then I believe the event icon is always the go-to spot

i'm sorry to say that is not what I've experienced.

Let's take the current event as an example.

I'm in Leyawiin fresh and ready to take the days rewards.

Goto Leyawiin wayshrine and run to quest-givers pick up the daily quests required for event tickets and event loot.

With a daily quest active in the quest journal I press map (M) and it shows me the exit gate from Leyawiin and not the actual location of the delve or world boss that is the quest.

That is not very helpful or user-friendly. This anomaly also evident in many other types of quests, ie what I call the "City Bug". You're stuck with trying to navigate your way through the often confusing streets to the exit (which is the current quest marker). Then you have to run or ride a bit more in open terrain until you find the quest location you are looking for.

    Rather unnecessary IMHO.

I used the compass to help with doing this event. I agree it could have been done better on the map and they can do much to improve this "exit the city bug" but it's a minor annoyance at best.

Show on map only works for me if I am in the zone where the quest objective is. But if I need to go to another zone this marks the exit out of town or a cart or a boat. I know I probably need to leave town and I know how to get out of town. What I need marked is the location of the objective.

Yep, the 'You need to find the city gates before we can show you where your quest is' mechanic has always been annoying. Some of us don't mind paying gold to fast travel directly to the closest wayshrine to our objective, so it's rather insulting to tell us we need to leave the city first.
