One day a real druid class?

Good evening. Finishing the story of the High Islands, I really find it a shame that Zenimax completely missed the mark to make a druidic type class with the High Islands expansion. While doing the quests of the expansion, when we see the detailed universe and the story around the druids, I have a hard time understanding why they chose to just make the stories of glories as a new addition instead of a druid class especially since in the story there are three druidic circles which would have made the three talent trees and the trailer for Fire song with the fire singers who transform into bears.

I hope that in the next expansion that they will think about it with all my heart.

next chapter is probably too soon for any new class.
it took zos a long time to make the arcanist class so i imagine it would be a few years before a new class like 2 or 3.

i assume stories or glories is tales of tribute? they were probably developing the arcanist class when they made tribute.

what would be the differences between your dream druidic class and the warden class?

I'd even be satisfied with just a "Druidcraft" skill line (would prefer a full class though), but they seem to think a druid would intrude too much on the warden class unfortunately.

A druid would have been far more interesting for me than some daedric cultist spewing glowing green puke all over the place.

They already have Wardens for a nature class. Druids turning into bears isn't something I associate with Elder Scrolls. More <insert a popular grindy game here> and tabletop D&D.

Werebears I could get on board with. Lycanthropy is there as lore, but what would they do differently to werewolves?

      I could see:

Nature's wrath (DPS skill line with bit of CC, e.g. slow) with skills like: Thorn Growth (ground AoE/DoT), Tangling Roots (slow with low DoT), etc

Y'ffre's ward (tank/protective buff skill line) with skills like: Oakflesh (phys. & spell resist), Regrowth (self heal), etc

It would be somewhat different from the warden in that it doesn't focus on animal summons, but rather on using nature to ensnare and damage one's foes.

Some druids in both High Isle and Galen used Warden's abilities during quests, so I don't think having a separate class for that is necessary.

that sounds like the Green Balance skill line but with damage skills.
doesn't seem very different from warden.

remember warden has three skill lines, only one is animal companions.

plus two classes connected to y'ffre whilst awesome seems very unlikely to happen, they'd just be too similar.

        Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Combat & Character Mechanics section, as it is better suited there.

        Thank you for your understanding.

As said, we already have wardens. I also think having Druids purely as a faction and not a class better distinguishes them from the usual fantasy Druids. It seems that Druids in TES are a mix of traditional fantasy and the real-life Druids, especially when it comes to their relations to the Bretons. Turning them into a class overshadows their complexity by making them appear to be just like any other fantasy druid class.

Alas, Warden is our stand-in for a Druid class. Unfortunately, it is a jumble of sporadic aesthetics and themes, which mess up the class fantasy. Best we can hope for is class skill skins, to make Warden look thematically more cohesive.
Struggling to find a new class to call home. Please send help.

Yes. A one off does not make a common theme in a world.

Werebears, we've had them a couple of times in multiple games.

It doesn’t have to be common to be part of the lore, though. Another archdruid also summons bears during the Galen questline, just like Devyric has with him in the opening cutscene of ERE, so the association there isn’t a one-off.
