Devs have repeatedly stated that cloaks are not possible due to engine limitations. I guess they won't try to change that for a 10 year old game.

NPC's will often mention putting/keeping something in the player character's pack, so it is obvious that we are meant to have one but it is simply not visible.

While I would love to see it it added, it is very unlikely even for backpacks (not just cloaks) because it would be a massive undertaking, not just for designing the backpacks but for resolving clipping issues -- they would directly clip into shields, staves, and two-handed weapons, so unless the placement for those was modified it would end up just looking janky (as it does with costumes that give you a backpack).

It's the saddle bag of the horse/guar/camel/whateverwackyanimalyouride and, just like the mount, becomes only visible when needed.

I mean, we can see other players rummaging around in bags and chests when they use their inventory, crafting bag and the crown store.

Also doesn't make sense that storage is only limited by item count and not item size.

If I have 100 storage slots, I can choose to carry 100 different treasure maps or 100 siege weapons. I won't mention the size of some of the housing items you can carry.

Many games are the same. In Skyrim I always kept valuable items I was waiting to sell when my speech skill was high enough in an end table, partially because it was easy to remember they were all in the one beside the bed and partially because I found it amusing that this tiny cabinet was full of staffs, dragon bones, plate armour...most of the stuff in there would be bigger than the cabinet if I dropped it, but it all fit inside.

Realism aside however I prefer games which use a weight limit or total item limit to ones that restrict it based on size, because they usually do it by having a grid inventory with items taking up different numbers and patterns of squares (e.g. a Halberd might be 4 squares long and 2 wide at the top, but 1 wide the rest of the way down) and then trying to make the most of your capacity is like a game of Tetris, and trying to keep track of individual items is annoyingly difficult.

Hell, they still have major clipping problems with weapons - one of my characters uses a bow, and when she walks or runs, it tilts forward --- walking, it just sort of dents into the back of her head.... but when she runs, it goes in the base of her skull, and comes out the top of her head......

At this point, the whole "clipping" ship has sailed, been boarded by pirates, robbed, sank, refloated.... robbed again, and is now rotting at an abandoned pier ......

If you play this game, you are already exposed to janky clipping, etc.... a little bit more won't tip it worse

More of an issue: Cloaks will clip with weapon on the back and tails, and they would look crap unless you use cloth physic who would increase the system requirement significantly.

There's probably no other way. It would be a bit frustrating if you couldn't take any more weapons with you because you're already carrying a windmill. :D

    This is a Fantasy game.

No one ever heard of a Bag of Holding?

I guess people want to remove large items from the game, since things like siege weapons would not take up lots of space in a bag - they would Not be able to be put IN a bag in the first place. And the weight would require several mounts to drag just One to Cyradil and drag it across to the desired location.

This whole conversation makes no sense. If you are going for "realism", just remove the Magic skills, Magic Items, Magic weapons, Wayshrines, etc.

Magic is very much real: I'm able to change the direction of the wind just by focusing my mind on doing so, plus all of my dreams are metaphorical predications of my own future. Which is to say that, if I take the gist of what happens in my dreams, then I'll have a vague idea of what will happen to me sometime within the next few days at the most.

I'm just saying that, if I really put my mind to it, I probably could enchant a ring or a necklace, or even a shirt or a pair of pants. Everyone has this capability, though some are wary of such things.
