Nighttime and headache so just farming stuff including runestones in northern Elseweyr.
It was an active dragon in north so waited to it left but had 6 surveys for location so dragon came back for the last one.
Had to wait a minute or two before it left again.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Oh, is that the one northeast of The Stitches, past the Bone Pit WB?

Were they good runes at least?

Yes the southern of the north dragon landing areas.

    Not memorable except the guardian.
One weird thing was that Azandar started fighting after I went to sneak, then dragon one shot me at range, respawned and waited.

When I get that survey, I drop by several times a week, until the "exercising" npcs are there before I start trying to complete the survey.

Some weeks are worse than others....

Companions should not start fights on their own but they do. And they still run far away with the boss, but appears at some point something has changed and bosses do not reset as easily.

Azander isn't as bad as Sharp. Sharp will hang back and pick fights when not even on the same screen as me. Not so bad most of the time, but the Herald Seekers are a pain when he triggers those! He's like "get em!!" and I'm "My dude I would if I could, I would if I could...", ;-)

I once saw someone ride right up to a dragon's face and sit there having a staring contest with it-- but in fact, the dragon was more interested in watching me than in watching the mounted player. Much later I discovered that I could do the same thing, as long as my combat pets and companion weren't out and my weapon wasn't drawn. Would it be possible to walk up and harvest those runestones with the dragon there as long as it hasn't been aggravated?

Tried it once, didn't work. It's some time ago though (don't know if something was changed meanwhile), also, detection radiuses vary.

If you're on PS there's half a chance that was me. 🤣 I absolutely love trolling people by doing that. The secret is the Shadow Rider passive in the Dark Brotherhood tree. I've found that as long as you stay on the mount and don't actually touch the dragon, the dragon won't aggro.

I’ve done that survey several times while the dragon just watches. As long as nobody initiates combat with him he’ll just pivot around to stare at you and then fly off.

Yes, I could have harvested them if dragon stayed there it landed, but I ran to the other side of the ground to reset the survey.
Azandar, was behind me, fought the dragon, got killed and the dragon then one shot me from an distance and stayed there it was as it was no more agro.

Now with an stealth set I could done it anywhere but had none on character.

Same, but I can see how it gets trickier with a companion.
