Magma Armor Nerfed Too Much (with suggestion for fix)

I'll get right to the point: the change to Magma Armor with U40 where you can no longer generate ultimate while this skill is active (12 seconds) is an over-tuned nerf.

Now, I do understand WHY they made this change. Basically, prior to U40, you could hit Magma Armor (Corrosive most of the time) and then generate enough ultimate (with the right build) that you could hit your back bar ULTI while your Magma Armor was still active. This essentially allowed you to stack ultimates, which should virtually NEVER be allowed to happen.

Your solution, however, is too extreme in the other direction. Because now, while Magma Armor is going, you lose ultimate generation for 12 seconds. That is a LOT of ultimate to lose out on! And it basically makes this ultimate out of line compared to other ultimates of the same or similar type, since they still allow the caster to generate ultimate. (Gibbering Shelter, for instance, still lets you gain ulti while active.)

So, what I propose is that you instead add a COOLDOWN to ALL ultimates. Make it 12 seconds. A "Global Ultimate Cooldown" if you will. This will basically prevent ANY build from ever being able to stack ultimates. Even future builds that may be developed based on future game updates. OR, if not a cooldown, then make it impossible to stack ultimates. Meaning, if you have an ultimate going, and then cast another ultimate in the same time frame, the first ultimate DISAPPEARS. Much like how Healing Springs works, or other similar skills.

So those are my two suggestions on ways to fix this.

Making it so DK is not able to gain Ulti while Magma is burning has gone too far the other direction.

P.S. I am not a player who has ever stacked ultimates like this. I don't even play DK very much. But I noticed this change and how it affects PvP and I disagree with how heavily it got nerfed.

After thinking about it, I actually think my second suggestion is better than the first one. Just make it so you cannot stack different ultimates. Simple. If you DO create a build with very high ulti regen, then you should be rewarded for it by being able to cast ultimates very quickly. BUT, only ONE can be in effect at a time, so you don't become overpowered.

    Do you mean corrosive?

Nope. Don't need back to back corrosive any more than corrosive active on leap. It was long past due. But if 12 seconds of no ultimate gen is too long, they can reduce the duration to 6 seconds. All for it.

I disagree with your comparison. I confess I don't know what gibbering shelter is because I can't play Arcanist.

BUT. I think a lot of people preferred to compare Corrosive Armor with the transformation Ults. Because it has a long duration and multiple powerful effects that effectively change your character. Change him into someone that only takes damage to the tune of 3% of their health AND their direct damage ignores resistance.

None of the transformation Ults allow ulti generation while they're active.

The problem with the way Corrosive was is basically twofold. 1) It's just really really strong, so shouldn't be able to be used too often. 2) DKs can stack ulti gen as a means of Defense, offense, and sustain-- making it too useful.

Honestly I intentionally skipped the Corrosive wagon, though I play my DK often enough, it just felt kinda "meh." I'm glad they nerfed it and I doubt very much that Corrosive DKs aren't still obscenely powerful. It isn't as though DK is a class that lacks defense for the in-between.

corrosive is still strong, not sure about magma armor though

Corrosive nerf is weird, in a way, I'd rather have them take away defensive aspect. On the other hand, I am fine with the way they nerfed.

Magma Armor wasn’t touched, only the Corrosive morph lost its ability to build ultimate while it’s active, which is extremely fair.

How this ability was handled, is a perfect example of when things are balanced with both PvP and PvE in mind, and I hope this pattern continues.
