When Zenimax added jewelry crafting they gave old jewelry a different tag than new jewelry. This was done so that no one had an advantage over others when the system went live. Those who hoarded jewelry in wait for the system had a lot of jewelry that was nothing more than vendor trash.

I would not be surprised if chromium dust saw the same fate. Not saying it will and have not tested it on the PTS.

There is no such thing as Chromium Dust. I assume you mean Chromium Grains. On PTS, every existing 1 Chromium Grain turns into 1 Chromium Plating and every 1 Chromium Plating turns into 10 Chromium Platings. This is explicitly defined in the PTS patch notes. If they were to abruptly change that between PTS and Live, it would be quite the shocking betrayal of player trust. They did not spring the "old jewelry can't be deconned" thing on players when Summerset dropped. It was part of Summerset PTS from the beginning.

While they are using the dollar sign it is pretty clear they are talking about gold.

Using the Dollar sign to denote another currency is a bit odd. Even more so when this game has a history of being subject to shady third party websites that arrange the transaction of in-game items for real world currency. Honestly when someone talks about in-game Gold, it's pretty simple to just but a 'g' after the amount.

Platinum ounces are 10-12k a stack on PS5 NA.
