    It's not a bug.
It's a passive now and always active during the event.

Ok, but I can’t see in the list of active effects in the character window that I have any xp boost. Is it supposed to be like that?

Yeah, for some crazy reason there is no indicator.

Yes, the XP boost is now passive and working. We are passing along feedback to the team regarding players asking for an indicator. The passive boost is set up to be identical to how we currently have the passive XP boost in the Explorer's Celebration, which currently also does not have an indicator. But we are passing the feedback along.

Maybe it's broken. It does not appear to be working. I noticed this yesterday after the event went live. If you know the XP reward from a daily random. If I do a daily random, it's the same amount and not doubled. I just assumed the XP bonus was removed.

The xp quoted on the daily random screen already reflects the event buff. It does not double again.

Can you post what xp you're getting for a daily writ on a level 50 character and any other applicable xp buffs you have (scrolls/pots, ESO+, Ring of Mara)?

Yeah i was having the same issue. Ps/na. Writs for sure did not give 2x xp and my dungeons, while they said they would, they definitely didnt.

I used the whistle, then went to do cyradil tutorial and got 0 XP (that is XP, not AP) bonus.
I have used other event XP bonuses on other characters and the extra XP always showed.
This time there was literally no difference.
I got 3000 xp for each of the 3 steps, which is the standard for Khajit.
    NO XP bonus at all.

Writs will not give literal double XP for many people, as the event buff is an additive 100% bonus and not 2x whatever you would otherwise get. Are you able to post what xp you get right now for a single daily writ on a level 50 character and what other xp bonuses you have?

I am curious if this is actually broken on your platform, and the daily writ xp is a quick test that will show for sure.

Using the whistle is not how to get the xp buff, so there will be no difference before or after using it.

In previous years this boost was not automatic and players were used to refreshing it and seeing it on the character screen, so an indicator would clear up a lot of confusion.

All day yesterday I was seeing in guild chat and zone chat "I'm not getting the experience boost." and we had to explain over and over what was going on.

Also @ZOS_Kevin Does the player need to complete the event starter quest to receive the experience boost or is it automatically present for all our characters?

When i said I 'used' the whistle I meant I summoned the cauldron and drank the goop.

    is this clear enough?
Besides, if the XP bonus is on All the time, it should not even matter whether you use the whistle or not.
The XP bonuses should be showing with everything.

Very clear. But the XP bonus has been changed to be passive. It has literally nothing whatsoever to do with the whistle or the cauldron now. You should have had it before you logged in, as Kevin confirmed above.

And it does not show on your character effects, as Kevin also confirmed above.

You will need to test with known figures, such as writ quests, to be sure if it's working.

It doesn't matter. The xp boost was applied without the whistle or cauldron. Unless you have written down what the values were before the event, you can't compare.

Otoh, here is my experience with writs.
Doing all 7 craft writs on a level 50 character normally gives 5.8k xp. Yesterday and today, I'm getting 11k. It's not quite doubled but that's because the baseline included the 10% from eso+, and the event boost is additive.

There is one way to confirm. Open the dungeon finder and choose the Random Normal Daily. The experience shown for completing it is double what it normally is.

Probably changed to prevent people from having the XP boost go past the end of the event. Many people would sound the whistle just before the event ending, giving them another 2 hours of double XP beyond the end of the event. This was especially good for those that do writs on multiple toons.

Other events with passive XP boost showed in the character effects screen. Maybe make it "49710 days 100% Experience Boost." That coding is already in the game, so might not be difficult to transfer over.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's event related.

    Thank you for your understanding

Which other event has had a passive XP boost aside from Explorer’s? I must be blanking.

Also, I wouldn’t want the 49710 bug applied here if it’s just going to exist in name only like most of the rest of those. An effect that says it’s there but isn’t is worse than an effect that exists but isn’t shown, imo, when the effect is beneficial.

I always return to Elderscrolls for the double xp events just because mostly I do crafting and exploring and I take a while to gain Champion Points like this.

So I was greatly disappointed when I tried getting my XP boost, I redid the witch-mother quest, blew the whistle multiple times, logged in and out with various characters and no luck getting the boost.

Very disappointed to read on the forums after an internet search for what I thought was a bug, to find the current situation with the xp boost being a 'passive effect'

Further to that as I've played a little this weekend, it doesn't feel as if Im actually getting a boost at all.

Anyway an event xp boost that doesn't show just leaves me feeling flat and disappointed.
