Is there a limit to how many purple plunder skulls will drop for you?

I've run around in 3 public dungeons, trying to farm purple plunder skulls, and they've stopped dropping from the bosses. Are they limited in number that will drop in total? Or a rate limit? Are they're any limits at all?

In past years the only limit was the normal cool down time on boss loot (3 minutes? 5? I don't quite recall)

purple plunder skulls are a minimum of 3 min cooldown due to boss loot (the only exceptions to this are dungeon bosses if you say did a fungal 1 where you can actually get from boss to boss in under 3 minutes)

It's also a universal cooldown so even if there's a dolmen next to a world boss, if you're after skulls only you don't need to bounce between them.

Are you still getting loot drops at all?

If there are a lot of players around and you don’t do enough damage you might not get a drop.

There is cooldown for overland, no cooldown in group instances and solo arenas.

A small cooldown, but they also seem to have garbo loot.
I don't know if it's an anti-grinding measure, but I was doing a WB/Dolmen loop and I even had a few Plunder Skulls drop Beetle Scuttles and other common alchemy ingredients.

Over the years I've found that grinding the purple skulls just ends up in tons of cheap furniture, recipes and mats, maybe if you're super lucky and made the right sacrifices to RNGesus you might get something beyond that.

That said, they added some nice Apocrypha furniture to the skulls this year, but I'm not sure how the rate is gonna be from normal plunder skulls since they're primarily purple.

usually letting my 2nd acct farm plunder skulls, i on avg get at least 5+ yellow recipes each witches festival lol, there was one year i got 5 sugar skulls recipes, 6 months later i sold them for like 450k each lol

i agree there is a lot of other stuff that most might not find useful like the furnishings, but this is still the one event that is usually worth farming

at least its better than the jester festival, the quest are enjoyable and fun, but the purple boxes from that event are utter garbage

In public dungeons there is a cooldown for loot. The cooldown is about similar to the boss respawn, so no worth running around killing bosses just stay at a boss location and kill it on respawn.

Group dungeons (dungeon finder ones) have no cooldown (unless it's changed recently), the best for farming is the Darkshade 1 with 6 easy bosses inside relatively close to each other.
