As I look around the forums, checking topics - perusing pages. I'm noticing a startlingly bad commonality.
Why are so many people using what looks like it could be their actual name as their forum handles?
Has everyone forgotten how dangerous the "Webernets" is? Has the general creepiness that has always been the "interwebz" desensitized a generation against danger?
I know I've read some instances about accounts being hacked and this and that. But when I look around and see a clear lack of precautionary tactics being employed in protecting one's identity, I'm really not all that surprised.
In fact, I'm willing to bet the passwords for some of those hacked accounts were something the "hacker" could find on the Facespace page of the hacked individual. If not that, than something inane like "123456!
@#$%^" as their actual password.
Protect yourselves.
Until ZOS comes up with more built-in security measures, you are your only line of defense.
This has been a public service announcement.
