Will We Ever Get Underwater Content?

if we ever get anything underwater, it will likely be similar to that one section of the graven deep that is actually underwater where you walk around in a bubble in the water

i dont think they have the physics or mechanics to do anything truly underwater like other games

currently the only underwater example we have is in the graven deep, but all skills function normally as if you were on land

What floors me is that WoW had an underwater zone and flying mounts many years before ESO even came out. How is that possible that a dev team creates a game and totally whiffs those two options? Not saying I don't enjoy the game but from a purely technical perceptive how can a design team create a game years later and miss options that other games have had many years prior?

it's not the same game and not made by the same people.
and it's not as if underwater traversal and flying mounts are a requirement in mmos or elder scrolls games.

    they didn't miss these options.
game studios either decide to put something in their game or they don't.

maybe they wanted to but couldn't, they use different engines so why does it floor you that eso doesn't have it?

That underwater zone that WOW created ended up being the least played zone.
I only did it on one character and I didn't like the swimming, swimming, always swimming.

    Or both.

Bottom line, I think, is that they have no content to offer to justify doing it. There is enough other stuff for them to do. If they really wanted to do it, they would have already done it.

    That too....

I just want my mount to not pop into inexistence any time it touches water that is even just slightly deeper than a puddle.

"Underwater" area can be done in a very simple way and I am sure engine will handle this:

    1. New zone that is "pretending" to be underwater.
It will be only in New zone and zone-wide effect.
    2. Remove "gravity" from the zone and jumping.
    3. You go in the direction you are looking at (basically "fly" in that direction, if you look up).
    4. Change walking/running/sneaking animation to swimming animation.
    5. Add green-blueish "fog" to limit visibility.

^ There, it is an underwater zone. As for the combat - it could also look differently since well... you are underwater, so swinging a sword or using lightning or fire dmg may not work. So skills should cost more stam/mag and some dmg types may be disabled or significantly less effective. As for the "breathing" underwater - it can be done plot-wise, like you receive some magical item from an NPC that enables you to breathe underwater and if you are an Argonian the NPC says that you probably won't need it but he/she gives it to you anyway etc.

Before investing time & resources into an underwater zone I’d love it if they made cc’s work properly in PvP.

Seems like such a basic and core part of game performance could work properly?
