Apocryphal tome glow

I like the green that it makes when you open it, however there's a green light aura/hue that is really overpowering and it would be great if there was a third option to have the book open and the green animation on, but turn down the green light aura. It's really intense and bleeds through a lot of furnishings.

i agree, but i would like to be able to adjust the brightness of all housing lights; also to adjust the opacity of objects which are not lights so that housing lights can only shine through objects/walls if we permit it. also, a pony for my birthday, which is just as likely.

I would love this. There are some lights I like the look of but they are just way too bright so I can't use them.

I just wanted to put the closed book in a display, cannot do that with this overpowering and awful looking glow.

Yeah it's way more intense than I expected (I also assumed it only glowed when open). It covers half the room where I wanted to place it with a strong green tint. It completely changes the ambience of the room that I was going for as well sadly.

I wish the glow wasn't there or drastically minimized when the tome is closed.

It also bleeds into the nearby room, which is just an issue with light omitting stuff in general, but the tome's light is crazy. The other lights in that room don't bleed through this wall.

I'd like the funtionality to scale furniture. And dye. And furniture storage as eso+ benefit. And a lot more.
(In another mmo where I actually did do housing I for example used a giant banana as temporary scaffolding while covering my spacious Chua house - which consisted of spherical sections - with giant eyeballs for seasonal decoration and covered most of the housing plot with a Stemdragon so the sky was effectively replaced with its pulsating inside. I'm completely spoiled, too bad.)

Arcanist VFX are so over the top and I'm not surprised that the arcanist themed book is too, haha. Even Azandar as a houseguest, he does a little arcanist glowy animation.... it can light up a small-medium room and bleeds into the rooms next to it. Not sure what's going on at Zenimax that these super obnoxious visuals are the way they are choosing to go, but someone there really needs to at least make the call to tone down the brightness and glow radius a bit. Even the radiant apex mounts in the current crates are blinding beyond belief, so the problem definitely runs deeper than just arcanist with their weirdly cheesy and a pain to look at aesthetic, VFX, and animations. It's somewhat concerning and I fear what lies in store for us.

The glow is far too obnoxious to be used as an actual book, too bad, it's a nice model.

That said, it's a great source of spooky ambience light, just hide the book in a wall or below the ground.

I too would like the option to tone it down, without removing the bright option for those that like it as it is

it would not be hard for Zenimax to add brightness stages (similar to the effect of Hlaalu Salt Lamp, Enchanted, though for this lamp player controls the color, not the brigthness, but you have got the concept, yes?) if we convince our dear game-makers, that we really really want this feature. Yea don't get me wrong i like the glow for some things, but another option to turn it down would solve a lot of problems. like the options could be

    book closed - glowing
    book closed - no glow
    book opened - glowing
    book opened - no glow

    ezpz solves everything

unrelated complaint, but related to the tome, but can we have a lore text added to it? only thing it has is a "this is a small house item"

Wow, finally tried out the tome yesterday afternoon.

In my Psijic Villa, even. OMG no. A book you can open and close is awesome. The crazy glow of this book, not so much. It should not be a friggin light source.

The tome is over the top bright neon green because everything Arcanist is over the top bright neon green. It would be so awesome if they would turn down the brightness on all of it.

It would be great if there could be a third state to the tome:
closed, inactive (turns off the dome of strong glowing green light)
    closed, active (as current)
    open (as current)

I really like this furnishing, but the intensity of both the green dome above the book and the intensity of the light emitted from the closed tome are too much. Viewed from the side, the glow from the book is actually an opaque green. I otherwise like this furnishing and that the book can be opened and closed!

This is beautifully-lit! Even with the tome, but yes it sticks out.

Agree with OP, actually searched this to see if anyone brought it up yet. I wanted to use it in my arcanist build but it's WAY too bright to use anywhere.
I'd like the funtionality to scale furniture.
to adjust the brightness of all housing lights

Yes! And some way to add more furnishing slots PLEASE (Yes I know the reasons they gave but there has to be some way around it, it's like the #1 constant request in housing.)

Although I do still wish there was a third state for the book — closed with a much less intense glow, I must say that the tome looks a LOT better in a home with less ambient light. While the book’s intense green glow was too much in Kelesan’ruhn, I think it looks good in Bastion Sanguinaris (I would post screenshots but it is still very much a work in progress). :)

I think the book should have two states.
    Closed - Light/glow off
Opened - Light glow on. Green glowing runes on the pages should light up and the page have a look of being lit up from those runes and a very small green light effect (like 2 feet) to the surrounding objects.

I ended up shoving it underwater along with some cauldrons, gives me the ooze swamp feel. Now I just need a Lurcher.
