How do curated items work ?

fxeconomisteb17_ESO
As I understood, when you get a curated item, it will be guaranteed to be one you don't have in the set.

However...

I've seen sets get updated when a sold item is no longer recoverable and when an item is destroyed.
So if you have items from a set in inventory, does it mean a curated drop can be one of these again, as the set has probably not been updated in collection ?

"Is it true her wounds healed on their own ? Yes" No s***, at 75% health regen penalty!

I was a vampire like you, but then I took an idea to the head...

Yes. But you can bind it. Right klick on the item. This update the collection too.
    greetings.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's asking for assistance from the community.

    Thank you for your understanding

It depends on whether that item has been added to your collections, which varies by piece - you can look at the tooltip for the phrase “bind this item to add it to your collection.” Bind on Equip items won’t bind automatically in your inventory, whereas Bind on Pickup do (after the two hour limit if you’re in group, immediately if solo).

If I get an overland item like a Spinner’s lightning staff but don’t add it to my collections, I can leave it in my inventory and get it again and again until I do something that adds it to my collection. But if I’m running Maelstrom, all the special arena weapons at the end automatically bind when I get them because they’re Bind on Pickup and it’s a solo arena. If I get a set piece as loot in a dungeon or trial with a group, trading my items to someone else doesn’t bind them, but any of that set loot left in my inventory after two hours auto-binds, as that’s when the BoP timer expires.

Doing anything that means you cannot trade/sell the item to another player will bind it: right click and hit “bind”; equip it; destroy it; research it; transmute it; sell to an NPC vendor and push it off the buy back menu; sell it to a fence (who has no buy back menu); etc.

But also just to clarify the first statement: curation still respects the loot pools of the bosses. If you are only missing a weapon but you are killing a boss that only drops body pieces, you will not get the weapon. Even though that’s the only one you need and bosses are curated. The system cannot force a boss to drop an item they cannot drop according to their loot pools. And named items are independent of the curation system full stop.

Add that chests are not curated so items found in an chest is random, higher level chests has better loot.

Now if item is not bound you can get it again multiple times has had this happen many times, like missing one weapon in an zone and do an public dungeon and get multiple copies or armor in some newer dlc dungeons.

You want useless items in an set like healing staff for an stamina set because it make it cheaper to reconstruct items.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

if its in your inventory, it is not bound automatically, it only becomes collected when it becomes bound (or you sell/deconstruct it)

collecting the item removes the item from the drop pool, so you only get items you havent collected (until you have everything from that drop pool, then it becomes random again)

if you traded the item away without binding it, then you could still get that drop again as well (thats how people sell item drops for dungeon runs by never collecting that item)
