what’s the current best classes for AOE damage? (I made a mistake)

So I started eso again but on the pc after coming away from the ps5 version last year.

I thought magsorc was great for aoe and single target, got it to cp level and realised its not very good a clearing trash mobs in dungeons ect… after a bit of YouTubing I didn’t realise it got nurfed so it’s not a powerful now.

I’m thinking of starting again but with a different class but looking for a class with very good aoe out out but can also be sustained easily enough too. I enjoyed the magblade on ps5 because of sustain but I don’t think the aoes were too great either.

So what’s a good class for aoe damage and also sustain at the same time? Not pursed necro yet as I didn’t want to risk it. Just want something I can enjoy playing whilst also dealing very good damage a long with not dying easily.

Any class if you build for it.
    Or DK.

Note that this answer applies to most questions.

    First place Arcanist.
    Second place Arcanist again.
Third place DK but u have to be careful with sustain (at least solo).
After that probably Templar and then the rest.

Arcanist. Slap one appropriate cost reduction glyph on an accessory, and the beam becomes very cheap.

sorc has generally always been better single target

it had a brief surge in aoe when heavy attack oaken builds became the big thing, but the recent changes to lightning staff have limited its aoe (its still good but only if you get that final tick to connect)

arcanist, dk, and templar are still some of the best for aoe dps

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    S Tier
Stamina Arcanist, because of Flail and Fatecarver.
    A Tier
Stamina Dragonknight, both Templars and Magicka Arcanist
    B Tier
Stamina Necromancer, Magicka Dragonknight, Stamina Warden, Stamina Sorcerer
    C Tier
    The rest

In order to rank them for AoE, you need to take the spammables and the buffs in consideration.
That is why MagArc is only A Tier. You have to basically get to 3 Crux with a single target spammable.
The same goes for MagDK, because Molten Whip isn't AoE and in addition sustain is more complicated.
Stamina specs can always get around that by using Whirling Blades or Carve for AoE.
Only Templar has a true magicka AoE spammable eith Puncturing Sweeps.

cheers for that, I have started with magplar. Just trying to smash it through to lvl 50 then happy days. at least I will have a variety then if the magsorc gets a buff again in the future.

Arcanist is easy mode. Just did a VASHM with a group with about 5-6 arcanist DDs. Rune + Flail + Fatecarver + Ulti. Done.

Yes and no. When you create an alternate, you start at Level 1. But once you hit Level 50 you jump to the CP level of your highest character. So whenever you want to give it a try, its not that far away
