It's only day 2 of the event, but I'm already fed up with it

During these 2 days, I was kicked out of the vet dungeons 9 times, due to the fact that I didn't want to skip bosses or mobs lke everyone

Cradle of Shadows - 1 time
Imperial City Prison - 3 times
Crypt of Hearts 1 - 1 time
Darkshade Caverns 1 - 1 time
Direfrost Keep - 2 times
Tempest Island - 1 time

I know that in some dungeons opal and gold masks drop, but it turns out that even if I don’t want to participate in the event, I have to. I have to skip all the mobs and bosses just so I don't get kicked out of the dungeon

Thats it, I’m being kicked out of the dungeon because I’m essentially just playing the game. I can’t constantly play with someone from guilds, because my friends also have their own things to do and I go to a random vet dungeon. Now I can’t go through dungeons normally, because it’s like a moronic Nascar - who reach the boss faster and die a hundred times along the way

It's not normal that a player kicked out of a dungeon because he wants to kill the boss or mobs. But a lot of fake tanks in vet dungeons are normal thing at the moment and for some reason they don’t get kicked, because they skip everything in their path to get to the last boss

It turns out that for me this is an almost hopeless situation, either you gather your own party every time or in random vet people will kick you for not skipping enemies

I stopped questioning all the weirdness in the finder OP... I've been in 3 runs where the other players refused to do hard mode in a base game dungeon that was also the pledge for the day... imagine not wanting to do Spindle 1 HM even though it's the pledge... There's no noticeable difference between the two modes, it's as if they didn't want the extra Undaunted keys and transmutes for some bizarre reason. And it meant I had to drop the quest and run it again because I wanted to get the HM. The only solution is to just run with guildies in premade groups, the finder is hit and miss at the best of times, especially during the event when players who normally don't run dungeons come out and run them.

I get what you’re saying as a player who always appreciated the art and story of the dungeons. But, as a player that’s played since beta, the early dungeons bore me to tears and I’m probably only doing them as a random for ten transmutes. Of the delves you listed, Cradle of Shadows was always a favorite of mine, but the others can be painful.

I always basically do what the group wants to do. If the group wants to haul butt to die right at the boss and then respawn and do the boss fight I’m down with it.

If I look and see I’m in a group with low level players and they are taking their time I’m fine with that too.

Not everyone is as flexible as I am though. As always, if you want the best possible experience, group with like minded players.

you are not actually "playing the game".
Because this means: slow pace between the events, fast pace during events.

Why do some people suddenly discover the "lore" when others just try to benefit from the extra rewards during a short period?

I run FG1 during this event, in the past for motifs many times, now just once for the tickets. In the past, I waited for others at the "shortcut", now I just jump down. I think during an event you can expect from others, that some things are not as usual.

Embrace the madness. Build a tank. Wear a tank build and slot tank skills, if you don't know how, look it up online somewhere like https://thetankclub.com/eso-beginner-tank-guide/.

    Then:

Queue for normal dungeons.Be happy when the queue pops quickly. Go as fast as you can through the dungeon. Taunt the bosses, do your best to stay alive. Finish the dungeon. Open event box. Bank everything you got. Fix gear, recharge weapons.

    Rinse, repeat.

Ive had whole banks full of this ugly opal c@#p for previous events, im over it so dont bother. Also if its the "just wipe" squad its a waste of my time, since i enjoy the killing part in the first place. I agree with the form your own group idea during this event if youre gonna bother, dont use activity finder itll only ruin your day if you enjoy combat.

It is not difficult to find other players and guilds who are willing to run dungeons at your pace. You just need to make the effort to do so. Find some guilds to join that enjoy running dungeons and are ok with doing "story mode" runs or just slowing down to help you complete quests and kill bosses.

If you rely on PUGs you will not have any control over the pacing and you are at the mercy of whomever runs ahead and pulls everything. If you want a story mode / lore / all bosses / quest run, expecting three other strangers to go along with you is going to be hit or miss, especially right now when most of them are in said queue to get in, get loot, and get out.

Last night with my guild we ran all of the non-DLC mask drop HM vet dungeons, very geared guild group (way overgeared) but one of the players was on a fresh CP toon and had not stopped to do any of the quests, so we did the quests in every single dungeon. Didn't skip a single boss. Because it was a guild group, no one complained, no one got kicked, and everyone had fun.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it deals with an event.

    Thank you for your understanding

yep gen-wipe certainly know how to ruin a dungeon but then again no sense in pointing fingers either..my message would be make better dungeons and change the way group finder works at the moment everything needs an add-on a skip or a wipe someone telling the group how good thier dps was or plain out insults. im not sure the exact date my random vets dropped from many a day to zero but it happened pledges where first to go though. still enjoy some specifics although knowing the chances of enjoyable dungeons is very low now.

I just did a run of group dungeons (non-veterinarian) and it was the same nascar sprint. There's no room for stamina DPS (not that I would know what that is supposed to be) because all that stamina gets wasted on sprinting around and, Sheogorath give us sanity, but if it's your first time and you haven't learned the NPC dialogue lines by rote...and you're weaving in and out of a stream of oncoming beasties the others mobtrained all the way to ...somewhere... and now all those poor, neglected beasties are all trying get a some modicum of comfort by returning to their favourite haunts....well, at some point this catches up and it ain't pretty!

The fun part, though, is how differential latency buggers up the netcode because no-one ever thinks of what happens when you mix a bunch of 360ms, 240ms, 100ms and 18ms players and try to render their actions, effects, outfits, pets, and summoned beasties in a real time environment which, although it lacks any visarea issues I can find, does have the odd pathing issue (NavMesh or lack thereof!) and .... of course someone's going to have the magic latency number that cancels out with something, divides by zero and crashes the client (OK, the theory-crafting is strong in this one. Those CtDs in 9.1.5 + 9.1.6 could be anything although I've ruled out add-on/API conflicts, visarea issues, corrupted files, and the usual suspects).

Speaking of which, I crashed my client when things were already getting long in the tooth:
    1. Pristine purple-quality armour was worn from 100% to the point of falling off
    2. My already more than double-capacity inventory was fuller than a popular pub on a Saturday night
    3. ....
So, I had to stop, unload, and repair my gear and, as could be expected, I got kicked. So, something did go as expected. And, no there is nothing wrong here - this part is working exactly as it should to keep the other players where they want to be :+1:

    As for the rest...

    #BlameUncleSheo LOL!
And don't tell him I said that!

Seriously, or perhaps hilariously, that was an absolutely torrential lootstorm and it was great to see the Crown Repair kits working the way all repair kits should (double-click the repair kit and forget).

From a testing perspective, it was a fun, interesting, and rewarding romp. I'm not sure how players who want to read the dialogue, experience the mission, see the sights and shake hands with the locals would feel, though. Sure, I want to do that too but having either foot planted in two completely different perspectives kinda colours how I see things.

    Feedback
I can see a major issue with the way ESO handles private instances ("group dungeons").

On a selection level (and, from a player experience viewpoint, the most important feature) the system needs to allow players to specify what type of group they join so you don't have someone who wants to take in every stop getting dumped in with a group of speedrunners who are farming gold or perhaps something fabulously more valuable then gold. Group playstyles can and could be divided up as follows:
    • Random: Really, some players want a surprise - just not all of us!
    • Speedrunners: whether you're farming gold, XP or gear, this is the kind of group best suited for farming.
    • Sightseers: Different dungeon each time and wait at each NPC for every first-timer to finish reading.
    • Slayers: Stop for every mob. Leave nothing alive.
    • Explorers: Examine every square millimeter of the dungeon to discover every secret space, no matter how insignificant.
    • Bughunters: They're not here to play with the beasties. They're here to find new and interesting ways to crash the client, send the instance into a death spiral, leave no geometry hole without a screenshot, find every inverted navmesh tri and hung vertice, etc.

On a self-assigned role level, I see from the forum chatter that there is considerable confusion over whether players are participating in group activity as a free service to other players or, uhm, just playing the game while rubbing shoulders with other players who want the some (not all) of the same things from the game; in a nutshell, entertainment, which comes in different flavours for different players.
    Ex dubium scientia.
    From doubt [comes] knowledge

I've actually had better experience doing Vet modes...for the most part, the players actually know what they're doing. Er...usually. 70% of the time?

No, I'm sorry, but this is a you problem. No way I believe that you've been kicked from dungeons NINE TIMES through no fault of your own. Once or twice I MIGHT believe, but no. There is something else going on with you. Are you making rude comments in chat? Are you refusing to do mechanics or fullfill your role? Are you inexperienced in PVE content, and not suited to vet content in the first place?
I've done several vet pugs on a support roles sknce the event started and it's been a mixed bag of success rates, but they've all cleared and they've all been pretty reasonable. Several times people have been on quests, and we've all waited. No one has been kicked.

You are being kicked out because 3 other players, in multiple groups it seems, decided your goal for the dungeon didn't meet theirs during an event. The onus is on you to rise to the goal of the group. Which, given the event nature of this week, is likely to complete the dungeon as efficiently as possible.

Look. If you are the only one in the group who wants to do this in a situation majority rules. Its that simple. I ask. If folks need a quest i slow down for them but right now the vast, vast majority are farming. Acclimate, use a premade group for the duration of the event or dont be surprised if you are kicked, its a selfish attitude. Dungeons are a team event. If you dont want to do what 75% of the team wants to its time to look for a different one. Its their time too. As a raider if the majority of my team wants to do x i acclimate. If the lead gives me a role even if i dont particularly love it but its best for everyone i do it.

ZOS created an event where event rewards only come from final boss. Therefore, it is logical to want to get to final boss as quickly as quickly as possible and skip everything that is optional. If the event dropped random rewards instead of only 1 reward at a specified boss, you would likely have the exact opposite - people wanting to kill every trash mob and every boss in an attempt to maximize rewards.

Even outside the event, the game is skewed toward rewarding you for final boss kill. Monster masks, gear for sticker book, XP and transmutes, motif/style pages. All come exclusively or mostly from final boss. The event just skews that further.

People are trying to maximize rewards based on the game and event design. They see you as attempting to sabotage the game and event by reducing the rewards they can get in a given timeframe. They see killing trash mobs they have killed a million times that drop nothing, or side bosses they have killed a millions time and that drop nothing, as a waste of time.

You are welcome to not like this game design. But the players kicked you not for "playing the game" but for wasting their time. The game incentives are on the side of the speed runners.

You are absolutly right there. Many of the design decisions made by ZoS is creating situations, which is not called for, and as a player can´t change.

We should ask ZoS - why do they keep on making decisions, which keeps people ending up in these situations.

It´s not like, there isn´t any Mmo´s out there, who can´t show them how to change it.
