Fame! Glory! Recognition! Riches!
Like any rational person, we're only interested in that last one.

The Circle of Schemes.

In a nutshell:
An off-the-books society that puts its main focus on the shady side of living. Comprised of those that are either shunned, or live outside of society's definition of 'normal'. Thieves, smugglers, witches, sell-swords, afflicted... As long as you bring something to the table, you'll find a place here. Find your home in one of the many hideouts and havens provided by those who dwell in the shadows.

Have a look at our carrd which holds detailed information concerning the community.

If that doesn't convince you, listen to these made up quotes from associates and customers alike:

"Yes. I was aptly provided with the right amount of morally grey buffoons to fulfil my questionable endeavour. What of it?"
Giluthiel, questionable Altmer merchant

"They told me to go to the place, and rough up the fellow... So I went to the place, and roughed up the fellow... Then I got paid. That's nice."
Lugmutz gro-Burak, Orc sellsword and ruffian

"Hahaha! Look at the coin! All of the coin! I'm riiiiiich!"
Cuts-Many-Purses, Argonian thief

"I volunteered my tavern for these gatherings of my own volition. I didn't get pressured into anything. I swear... Now please stop sending the scary Argonian by my house every night."
Jharis Gueseric, happily obliging innkeeper.

"No! S'drassa did not tinker with the dice! This one is innocent, he swears it! No, not the cellars again! Not the cellars!"
S'drassa, known swindler

The Circle of Schemes presents: The Unyielding
Rumours both in- and outside the underground, speak of a group of mercenaries calling themselves The Unyielding. Over the last months, the group has undertaken dangerous excursions. Excursions utterly unmentioned on any bounty boards and unknown to the adventuring guilds. Little is said about the group itself, with the general public left in the dark on whether the group even has a leader . To add to the vague nature of the rumours, its members prefer to carry no colours nor uniforms to distinguish them.
As the tale goes, the only thing bringing them together is their skill in combat - and a coin, with custom engraving - which they use to obtain the elusive bounties. The unique trades and special contracts are offered only in certain taverns or hideouts, rumoured to have connections to 'underground' resources...

⚔️ What does it mean? ⚔️
In the Circle of Schemes, adventure is always our first and main focus. As DMs and as players, we want to offer our members a venue to not only serve as a hub (for potentially more or less legal activities) but to provide them with an engaging adventuring experience.
You do not need to have a criminal/afflicted/questionable character to join in! The Unyielding is meant to serve as a hook for characters who mainly focus on adventure, fame and glory that comes with a completed mercenary job.

OUR COMBAT SYSTEM AND TRAIT FEATURE (OPTIONAL)
To make our adventures slightly less RNG-based and give our players more flexibility in personalising their characters, we are introducing an optional, simple, stat-based system for our adventures, which could give -you- a better representation of your characters' strong and weak points! You can find out more here.

Hello! It's been a while since we wrote an update on the Circle of Schemes thread (that's on us, a lot has been happening and we kept forgetting to keep the updates coming!).
I will try to keep it short and concise to not bore people too much!

Story-wise the Circle has gone through quite a lot lately. What started as a simple task of dealing with a malevolent creature of the night, unfurled into a symphony of chaos that spanned over the last couple of months. Eventually resulting in a full-blown coup, with the necessary heartbreak, betrayals, and even deaths paving its path! It was an emotional time for many of our characters, with as the crescendo of the story a public execution of one of the long-standing members of the Circle (or at least, as public as an execution in an underground criminal organisation can be!). Many characters had a chance to say goodbye to a long-standing menace, and I finally got a chance to write a fitting end to the life of a devilish rogue, whom I was painstakingly maining for over 8 months, in a build-up for that very moment! Now, with the Circle life finally normalising, our team is ready for new ventures - while rebuilding all that has been lost during the brutal coup that formed our last campaign.

    What are our next plans?
    • Firstly, we have the upcoming mini-campaign/murder-mystery that will be hosted on Foundry - and are also collecting a small group of our members for a DnD 5e mini-campaign (hopefully starting Nov!)
    • Secondly, we would like to thank you for all your interest in our guild! In fact, with such a large influx of newcomers joining our ranks, we had to temporarily freeze our recruitment to accustom our fresher recruits to our group, events, and build on the inclusive atmosphere! That does not mean we will be closed forever! We are considering restarting the recruitment - at least partially to those that joined us on our socials, community events, and public adventures and to those who seem to make a good fit for our guild. So, if you are interested in joining us, feel free to drop in with us for one of our many socials - come see for yourself if we are the rag-tag group of misfits you are looking for!
    • Finally, with the release of The Fair Winds, the Circle members were given the difficult challenge of collecting an impressive sum of 50.000 drakes to top off funding for procuring this impressive vessel in service of our future ventures (and the prospective nautical campaign, possibly involving a lot of pirates!). Now, the challenge relies on collecting said sum only through RP (no rumours nor happenings will be accepted!) - but they can do so through any means possible! Pyramid schemes? Check! Scamming someone out of their hard-earned money? Check! Burglary? Check! Mugging someone in a dark alley...? Check! Criminals gotta do criminal things - and you can help them achieve this goal while providing a unique hook for your character! So, if you would like to get yourself involved with the Circle and perhaps open your character to a perspective of a mildly traumatising event - do let us know! Nothing will be done without a prior agreement, and if you'd like to expose your character to an attempt at scamming, pickpocketing, mugging or getting themselves in debt due to an unusual snake oil pyramid scheme... Circle of Schemes is here to help! Or... well. Assist would be a better word, perhaps. But keep in mind that no metagaming or godemoting is allowed, on either side! It's just meant as means of development and networking in more unusual circumstances...
