New destro passives

For Templar. Fire with ele sus, lightening with Jesus beam, or dual maces?

I have 12k pen on character sheet without maces, or any debuffs on target.

Any you PC folks finding destro staves for primary weapon doing better than 2h or dual wield?

Dual wield maces, nirn plus charged is still the way to go and gives you the best damage for everything. Lightning staffs direct/channel attack damage comes close though, but does only benefit half your damage.

Lightening staff is my personal favourite [edited:
In no proc Cyrodiil]. Boosts yourr sweeps, ult, backlash (if you use it), and Jesus Beam. It allows you to backbar a resto staff and to keep using Ele Sus. Also, Light Attack connect more often.

2h Maul or dual maces are nice too for raw damage, but that's about it.

Flame staff... subplar

Flame staff... subplar

Lightning plus resto sounds like a bad pair of weapons, since you cant regain stamina with heavy attacks and you have no additional block mitigation as you would get from ice staff or sword and shield. If you use a lightning, go snb backbar. If you use dual wield, ice staff is normally taken but resto works too.

I don't block, I'm using Gaze of Sithis. Also I'm a vampire, so if I run out of stamina (which very rarely happens) I mist away, and charge back a few seconds later. The last thing I want as a templar is to be stuck blocking and playing defensively on my back bar. I'd rather heal back full life very quicky, put some HoTs on, and go aggressive again.

Considering how well I am performing in [edited: no proc] Cyrodiil with this build, I wouldn't say it is a bad pair of weapons at all, surprisingly enough.

I have preferred s&b back bar, however I think I can appreciate your strategy. I like using puncture back bar, which I think most people prefer ele sus. I probably do spend too much time on my bar back, usually I’ll start defensive, let the person burst me first, then usually go on the offensive, however I could certainly see how being offensive could work well!

Puncture is a nice skill, true. I just prefer Ele Sus because it's free even though it shouldn't be, and it doesn't drain my stamina (also 3 status effects are OP).
The good and bad thing about templar is that our best defense is our attack, imo. We can't block and channel at the same time, but sweeps can be your best or second best heal after Living Dark. The more damage we do, the better we heal.

Not to be mean, but there is a reason why there are „meta weapons“ and „meta builds“. Dual wield plus ice staff is the go to weapons currently (even without master dw and vate ice staff), since dual wield provides the best damage of all weapons while ice staff provides great defensive capabilities. Together covering a magic and a stamina weapon makes it the currently best weapon choice.

You performing well is like „hey just trust me“ and totally a matter of perspective and depending on what you are doing in Cyrodiil. Zerg surfing, coordinated group play, small scaling or soloing. But what I know is, that gaze of sithis is one of the worse mythics in the game right now and is almost not used at all. It pretty much only saw use when the block mitigation part didnt work in no cp cyro and it provided pretty much health and resistance without drawbacks. Comparing to more meta setups, your build most likely has less damage, since you miss huge buffs from like sea-serpent‘s coil and the versatility of a monsterset like balorgh.

The best defense on templar is situational blockcast of honor the dead while having your hots and defense up. In any normal fight vigor, rune and extended ritual are the most hps you get (living dark instead of extended when moving a lot). Jabs normally cover less than 10% of the hps, so you saying this heals you so much tells me plenty about who you are fighting. I also get a few fights where I simply heal up by jabbing: when the enemy is so bad that they cant deal damage when 100dps is applied to them.

It is totally your choice to play something, that performs worse than other things. But please do not advertise it by stating „you are doing well“. This sentence has no value in my opinion. But what we know is that block is very powerful to the point people want it nerfed (sry havent seen anyone wanting gaze of sithis nerfed in its current state). Also please do not spread false information about jabs being great healing or whatever…

I guess I should have mentioned I play in No Proc Cyro, mostly solo and small scale, where Sweeps heal is only second to Living Dark.
Also, no misinformation here. Rune heals you by 500-1000 hps at most when moving, that's less than sweeps in full offensive phasis regardless of your campaign. Jabs in only 10% of your healing over the whole encounter because HoTs are always active and counting, but when it really matters (when you charge in and attack) it becomes one of the most potent heals. Unless you build defensively and not offensively, in which case your jabs will do 100dps as you mentioned, indeed.

And finally I specifically stated that it is my personal favourite, not the meta. When you tried to make me understand that I am losing in block value, which is true, I only answered that I do not block as it does not match with my playstyle. Nothing else.

People can keep chasing the meta if they want. It is out there in every builds found online. Yet they can also be told that some other builds with different playstyles can also perform well. That's for them to decide which one they want to play. "Not meta" is not the same as "bad". It just means mathematically less powerful in an optimal situation.

So consider all my comments as "in Ravenwatch".

These days I have a lot of respect for anybody who is willing to build off meta to accommodate their personal playing style so they can enjoy the game. I wish there were more like you.

It is painfully ironic that this game prides itself and boasts on “play how you want” when the options for competitive PVP continue to get more and more narrow down to almost nothing.

There kind of always has been meta builds, but the difference now is that it’s the same for all classes. I guess on one hand, if everyone is using the same build, skill plays a decent role, however class probably more so. I’ll tell you one thing I hate, chasing someone around a rock or tree or a box during a 1:1 until they can reproc their stuff or wait for others to Zerg me down; that sucks, lol…

A lot of hate whispers from people calling you trash, getting tea bagged, and getting head hunted in Battle Grounds comes with it. It's definitely not for the weak willed.

Yes, it’s pretty absurd getting teabagged by a DK who’s running every piece of cheese gear possible when you’re on a weaker class, and have intentionally chosen not to join the MastersDW/Vatesh clones.

Even worse when the DK was losing the 1v1 and teabags after his allies gank you.... PvP mentality has declined a bit....

Still, there is the occasional "hey cool build!" whisper, so that always feels nice
