Base game classes revamp (Skill/Animations)

With the arrival of the arcanist, new skill animations and fantastic sound effects came along, do you think that in some future ZoS will do a ''rework'' on the base classes, both in skills, as well as in effects and animations? Would you like that to happen, or is it fine the way it is?

In some cases it could be great but we can't have another bloodthirst/jabs downgrade situation.

On the one hand, I think some of the animations do have room for improvement.

On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of the Arcanist or the changes to blood thirst/jabs.

I still have hopes that they change it back, or improve it, but it was something that wasn't asked for (maybe a secret test), and many people didn't like it, but the truth is that I'm almost sure that the visual change was because of the nerf that the skill took... the original one, hits 4 times, the current one only hits 3, the old animation was made to be synchronized with the 4 hits, and ZoS have needed one animation for 3 hits skill... in the end it gave the impression that they made that animation as hurry...

Yes, after those two things, it gave me a certain anxiety, in case they ever want to do a visual rework, not to mention a rework on the skill lines themselves, but seeing the work done on the arcanist, this fear kind of diminished... I would like that at least change the ''idle'' animations of some skills...

Feel no need for it and would prefer that my skills remain unchanged, however, it wouldn't make me stop playing. Just please, no overload of visual effects.

Considering the issues we've already seen when ZOS has changed animations, and the problems many people have with the arcanist and those skills - nope. ZOS needs to leave things alone as they are now.

I'd love for there to be at least some variation in casting some spells, like my Templar spear has the same exact animation per throw and it honestly looks rather goofy repeating the same exact frames, while moving forward/backward.

I'm not asking for new flashy looks, just differences in hand gestures/movement animations (especially when you jump off a ledge, the near T-posing model when you fall looks absolutely janky/goofy).

I think it'd be pretty disruptive to change the animations. The game's approaching 10 years old, so I could see why people would want a graphical refresh. I just expect it to be have a mixed reception - at best - so I'm not sure it's really worth the effort involved. Personally, the reason I play some of my characters is because I like the animations of class skills. If that were to change, I don't know that I'd be super thrilled. Jabs is a great example.

I'd rather them fix bugs, do QoL enhancements, and give us some medium sized houses to earn.

I'm that guy who's scared they'd make the animations worse or get rid of things I like.

They already removed my favorite part of the animation of my old favorite skill (the wraiths from manifestation of terror) in U35. :/

Anything they can come up with is GUARANTEED to be better than what we've already got for the old classes considering how fleshed out the Arcanist is.

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Combat & Character Mechanics section, as it is better suited there.

aarcanist seems like a poor example to me as i personally think it sounds and looks like a hntai fart machine but i would enjoy it if they added to/reimagined some their classes' effects..

I will concede, there are some abilities that could profit from animation improvements. Stone Fist comes to mind firstandforemost.
A lot of players will scream JAAAABS!
But honestly, its fine the way it is right now. So is Flurry.

I think the work put into new animations would bring nothing more than work for animation artists, if you know what I mean. But the game itself wouldn't benefit from it. And the classes wouldn't somehow be supercool, much improved or whatever catchphrases are popular right now.

I think players are just looking for more eye candy, because the game is starting to show its age after nigh on ten years.

If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Whenever things are changed it's excessive. I'd like more DPS or powers for necros but that's all.

Yes for skills. But probably not for animations? People are still struggling with Templar jabs right now so similar changes are gonna cause pandemonium.

You mean like they did this patch? Lol

I’d love bug fixes of bugs we’ve been drawing attention to and asking about and I’d love actual QOL changes that we ASK for. Outside of that, I’m totally down for animation changes SO LONG AS they can revert them if the player base doesn’t like them. Them doing it with jabs and flurry and essentially saying “oops, sorry, no takesies backsies” was dumb

VFX, yes.... but animations, I don't know. I guess as long as these new animations didn't make my weapon disappear left and right like these new classes. One reason why I would never play warden, necromancer, or arcanist longterm is because of this.... and I love sorcerer because they have very minimal disappearing weapon animations. If Zenimax went back and tried to "better" what's there with some flailing hand movement animations that make my staff pop into inexistence.... I will be very, very upset.

It would be really nice to be able to see the weapons on the back, waist at least when casting certain skills... or have the secondary weapon on the back while the primary is being held...

A lot of sorcerer abilities actually do this if you look closely, but they're seriously the only class that really does this as far as I know. For example; if you're dual wielding daggers and cast an unprocced c-frag, the daggers will go on the back. If you cast a procced c-frag (or daedric curse), one dagger will be sheathed on their hip or both will be held in one hand (either of the two, I know there's animations that do both of these things though). Why other classes, original and new, didn't get this kind of care and treatment is beyond me.... but it's definitely one reason why sorcerer is my favorite. I find these animations far superior to my character doing some weird hand movement and kamehameha-ing some miscellaneous magic at an enemy.

I would love for both bars weapons to show at all times as well. The fact that ESO does not do this will always disappoint me as much as the fact that there's no capes. One reason New World appealed to me when it was announced was because it did in fact show all the weapons you had equipped at all times. They're MMORPGs, after all. As a player, I can't help enjoying looking and feeling like a proper questing adventurer within them. And my character having a staff that randomly disappears and a sword+board that exists for 1-2 seconds mid fight while he waves his hands shooting magic at people doesn't really achieve that kind of feeling.
