Blacksmithing – Deconstruction problem with Level 3 character

I get that and what I am saying is this is already happening, and even worse they get THE BEST materials not the crap ore, cloth to pass to those low level craft toons. Hence the need to make it ALL or nothing. Either you should get nothing from breaking down gear of too high of a level or you should get it all. The most important things are the materials that we need to upgrade the items, not the cloth or ore as much. The ore and cloth are easy to find and easy to buy for pretty cheap as opposed to buying, for example, one hemming at 400 gold. I can buy an entire stack of cloth for 400 gold and get 3-7 hemming.

You DO NOT get THE BEST material from breaking down anything period. Even at VR10. The best Mat are the legendary mats, Legendary items do not drop in game what so ever. Therefore it is 100% impossible to deconstruct anything and get a Tempering Alloy for example.

As you say you do get them from Refinement. But that is a different thing entirely so not sure what you are getting at. Also hemming is worth like 100g not 400g. The Embroideries are only worth 250g and Elegant lining about 1.5k. I think someone was ripping you off.

By the way my Bsmith is way lower than my main so the exact same thing happens to me but a) I still get bars and rares from refinement on him and b) he has never ever had any issues having bars to make stuff. It is dirt cheap to by refined bars, the money is all in the raw ore and extracting rares as you point out. once that is done what is left it nearly pointless and can be bought for literal pennies.

Next time you refine poodlemaster, watch how many pieces of cloth or ore you get in return. 1 to none in a stack of 40. I can make iron daggers all day long and deconstruct them and get plenty of iron ingots in return, but try orich or dwarven daggers and deconstruct them and you will not get very many, IF any. I have 5 toons all doing some craft and each one is the exact same except the one that is 41st lvl.

Oh sure. I was just pointing out it will work. I have points in Metal Extraction, Metallurgy and Temper Expertise and my level 15 blacksmith does pretty good really and with 3 hirelings he gets regular drops, of sometimes quite nice, bits.

I feed him stuff and he processes it as much for the 'inspiration' as any large amount of product. I do have some 40 Dwarven Ingots and even a small stack of Ebony. I make my fighters search between jobs. ;) You can see a lot from a walking horse.

I have noticed the same thing on my crafting alts. Not only for Blacksmithing, but Clothing and Woodworking as well. All of them have the max number of points spent in their respective craft for their crafting skill, and all of them have access to at least the second tier of materials (items being destroyed are high teens/low twenties).
