Necromancer in pvp

I played pvp for a long time (mostly bgs and IC) and usually have pvp builds on all classes each patch. However, i always considered myself a necro main. I think I speak for a lot of players when i say that the necro is absolut bottom tier in pvp. With update 39 we saw what some necromancer buffs could look like. The buff to deaden pain is fantastic and a step in the right direction to make the corpse mechanic work. Good skills like resistent flesh spirit guardian and now deaden pain make the class pretty tanky. (I still think its less durable than warden, templar, arcanist and dk) Sadly, the offensive toolkit is borderline non existent. Necro has nothing. No way of getting through block, no dots, only a very predictable and unreliable burst skill, no mobility, very limited, niche and expensive ults , very view offensive buffs, bad sustain, no execute, no proper cloak counter and not even a good spammable Im not asking for much here because i know that we are most likely not gonna get a whole rework of the class, but more access to some common buffs would go along way. Adding major brutality/ sorcery to the necromancers kit would make building a necromancer much easier. Maybe even through the corpse mechanic? (Whenever u consume a corpse gain major sorcery and brutality for x sec?). Adding major savagery on both bars to the spirit guardian when slotted , similar to what nb got this patch? Make spirit guardian and the armor buff last longer and produce more corpses similar to the crux mechanic of the arcanist? Maybe add minor expedition somewhere?
There is alot of small changes that can help the necro to get on the level of the other classes. I dont mind the necro having weaknesses, but as it is right now, the necro has too many.
Buffs to sorcs and nb ( major savagery, minor force etc) show me that you are willing to give classes some „goodies“ . So im asking you to do the same for the necromancer.

The tethers absolutely need a change. Either make them go through terrain/obstacles so that you don't have to constantly recast them or convert them into something like the Arcanist's Rune DoT (cast on corpse, everyone in area gets HoT/DoT stuck to them).

Necro suffers heavily with bar space, and with Deaden Pain being near mandatory now, bar space is even tighter. Necros need either Major Crit or Major Sorc/Brut. No reason any class in this game should lack both of those, while also lacking an execute, on demand stun, and mobility options. There's far too much necro needs to outsource; it makes the class feel stale when all of your important skills have to come from non-class skills.

Empowering Grasp is also a worthless skill, possibly one of the worst skills in the game. It's nearly impossible to hit enemies with it as the zones appear too slowly, and hitting your pets to empower them is even more difficult since pets position themselves on your flank. Seriously, have any of the devs bothered using this skill? It blows my mind it hasn't been reworked.

The Venom Skull, Colossus, and Deaden Pain buffs were all great, but the class is still in dire need of some foundational changes because the entire kit revolves around buggy, inconsistent, difficult to use abilities.

Here's why I have been pushing so hard for Necro not to get major crit or weapon/spell damage buff, it's because I think ZOS will take the lazy route with Necromancer given that a complete overhaul of the offensive skill line and maybe all of it just isn't really feasible. I think they'd just slap a band-aid on the gigantic hole in the wall and just be like FIXED... we're good!

    Necromancer needs love, especially offensively.

    - Skulls is way too slow for a spammable
    - Necro's need dots
    - Tethers and Graveyard may be fine for PvE but that's because NPC's are dumb. In PvP these don't work, to call them situational skills I think is being nice.
    - Solving some of the dot issues I'd say give Blastbones a DoT as well as what it does now. Also to end confusion and pathing issues I'd turn it into a ground ability... what I mean by that is that yellow circle on the ground. You cast where you want BB to summon, it puts itself together... boom.
    - I don't know what to do with the Skeletal summons but something needs to be done so this is viable. Maybe increase the duration, give it a special proc like Crystal frags has. One idea I had was to have this ability also apply a Flame Cloak to you that does DoT damage to those close but idk...
    - Like Camerabeard said Empowering Grasp is blah... so I'd say change it so it does what it does in terms of the circles and slowing etc but also leaves behind "corrupted" ground that does a DoT. Also, speed this up.

From a never-played-necro-but-never-shudders-at-the-sight-of-one, is this a case of jack of all trades, master of none? So necro’s aren’t suppose to shine in any single area, but just be mediocre in all?

Pretty much. I mean in PvE Necromancers can fill their bar with class skills but not because they are above average or anything like that... It's because NPC's are dumb so they won't get out of your Graveyard, won't dodge your insanely slow spammable, or LOS your Blastbones to confuse it endlessly.

However, in PvP Necromancers can only really use skills outside of class skills for offense because the class skills don't really work against players. I mean if I had some abilities I could rely on for pressure, like DoTs and better burst, then I could use Skeletal summons as basically just a passive but because I lack damage in the class skill lines I can't put that on my bar because it's useless, I need all the damage I can get. Necros were made to be the debuffer, because well dead bodies and all but they really don't do that well either because the corpse system just doesn't work.

I'd say in both PvE and PvP Necros are at the bottom.
