Hi, I’m a console player. PlayStation. When purchasing ESO+ we are notified that auto renew will be turned on.

Since I do not like this I go and manually turn OFF auto renew. But every time this game has a patch it automatically turns on auto renew and I get stuck forking out money I didn’t want to pay. I’ve barely played the game all month so why would I want ESO+? Furthermore, How many other unsuspecting players are getting caught up like this? I’m infuriated.

Please stop turning on auto renew when there is an update. If this is an issue you have to get with Sony to resolve then I encourage you to please do. I or we, shouldn’t have to keep changing this setting every time you release a patch/update.

    I'm surprised it does that.

I'm on PC and when I buy ESO+ the only option is to set up a reoccurring subscription, but then I cancel the renewal as soon as I've confirmed it's gone through and ESO+ is active on my account (usually just a few minutes after buying it) and I've never had it revert back to auto-renewing (and always got the full time I paid for).

So it's clearly something they can do, I don't understand why they'd do it only on one platform and not the others.

I always have to turn off the auto renew when purchased but I have never had it turn auto renew back on till next time I purchase ESO plus. I am Also on PlayStation.
I do have to go to the Sony website and log in to my profile to cancel as I can no longer cancel from my console as it gives me an error.

After making a purchase in steam, i remove my credit card data. Autorenew cant happen as no card on file. Also use a reloadable card and put cash on it only when you wish to make a purchase. Cash app and venmo come to mind.

In various jurisdictions, the practice described would be clearly unlawful. It is taking consumers' money without consent.

They may want to fix this sooner then later, before someone thinks "Lawyer"

Hi @Avoranti, we are looking into this. Just to gather some information, could you let us know what the sub amount is for? Is it reoccurring for 1month subs, 3 month, or more? And can you clarify if the auto-renewal is being triggered through the PSN store?

Also when you have a chance, if you could submit a customer service ticket for this and share the ticket number, that would be great. That way we have it in our system and can easily access all information tied to this.

Just wanted to provide this for general understanding, we do not control Sony's subscription system and any patch we put out would not interfere with this system either. So if we can narrow down where the problem is coming from, we can either address issues on our end, or notify Sony of the issue if it caused through their service.

This is my experience. My license to ESO hasn't functioned properly in ages but I haven't had any issue turning off auto renewal after a purchase.
