"Dungeon collectible fragments are now usable. Using all the necessary items will trigger the associated achievement and award the collectible."

this was a small line in the patch notes but i am confused by it, is this something new? something that was broken? or what?

if its new how does it work? if its old what was broken?

I assumed this referred to the change with public dungeon runebox fragments. For example, previously to get the Big-Earred Ginger Kitten pet from Summerset Karnwasten PD, you had to collect and hold all found fragments in your inventory (1-6 spots) until you collected all seven and then you'd use and combine them, consuming the fragments and receiving the pet. With this change, you can consume fragments one at a time and now it tracks it in your achievement and frees an inventory spot, giving you the pet when the achievement completes. I like this QoL change from an inventory management view. If a player wants to sell them instead, they can, it does not automatically use the fragment on pick-up.

Except the ones from the Labrynthian, apparently. Which was disappointing to learn.

that's not a collectible furnishing. if you want another one, you have to do it again.

it works like how they implemented the graht-oak squirrel collectible in necrom, which is an achievement and just tracks your usage of the 2 collectible items, instead of needing to get all of the items first before using them

so you can just use them as you get them instead of wasting storage space until you have enough

as others noted this does not work on the labyrinthian, because the item there isnt a 1 time collectible unlock, you can repeat it to create more targeting dummies

its really really helpful for older collectibles such as the sixth house robe, ginger eared kitten, etc which have 7 differently named items and the achievement lists which ones you need, which makes it much easier to know which ones you are missing

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

@Necrotech_Master if you use those older 7 named fragment ones, do they go into the fragments collection or only appear in the achievements now?

i cant confirm that, because i had all of those completed years before this change lol, the only ones i havent finished yet are the ones that started requiring 50 of the blasted drops

i did take a look at the achievements list though, and it has all of the items listed as a checklist type achievement, but since i already have them completed i cant confirm how they work now, unless i found all the fragments and used them on my 2nd account lol

the newer ones which require 50 consumable items you just use and it increments the achievement counter

Ah. I was not aware and that's both slightly disappointing and also not. I guess if you want more then it's nice having the option, but I wanted to put one in several houses and was rather expecting (and hoping) it'd be a collectable for that.

So what this also means is that there is no longer a way to assemble runeboxes to sell anymore? You have to sell, list and store the various parts?

I'm fairly certain it should still work after you obtained the first one for yourself? it could also be that you don't have to consume them right away and then be able to combine them.
