Why does it take so long for 1st boss on Elden II to spawn?

✭✭✭Do you have to kill the adds in the room just to the right of the larger room? I don't know if that is a prerequisite as the groups I am in kill them out of boredom, but it feels like the Dark Root spawns after killing them.0 -

Sometimes I do sometimes I don’t. Even when you kill those [spriggans?] still find myself waiting at the portal forever for the boss to appear1
